WEEK ZERO: MINGLE (43 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. Speaking of new, if participants turn on their PHS, they'll notice another section available. There's also an alert for a new message, titled TEAM ASSIGNMENT. Opening it will reveal which Leader they have been assigned to. Furthermore, at the corner of the PHS screen is an icon of an animal, depending on who their Leader is. It is visible only to them and no one else. That's not the only change, though. Participants may not notice at first—or perhaps they will?—but sooner or later, they may realize that they're... missing something? Strange. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Which is to say, the Planetarium is now open! Finally, for the rest of the week, the participants will inexplicably have the urge to be physically affectionate. That person you just met days ago? Time to cuddle! This complete stranger you ran into? It sure is tempting to hold their hand. This urge can range anywhere from minor to impossible to ignore, depending on the situation. Enjoy your bonding!

Make enough of it and you can store it. Like a jam, or a preserve. We can keep some of them whole, and cook the others down some more.

Huh. [ He looks over at the pantry at the not a few number of freshly bruised pears. ] Okay.

[ Might as well get those jammed up, but he sets them aside from the ones he'd carefully picked out too. ]

Here, you take these and mash 'em up when they're done boiling- I'll cut and sauté the rest!

[ the jars are probably sterilised now? so. she'll nab herself an oven mitt and remove those and then....

time to boil some pears. ]

Just don't eat all of it before it gets to the sauté part, and that'll work out nicely.

me: Alex is so smart, warming the jars up so when they put hot pear into them they won't explode ]

[ He doesn't want the pears anyways, he wants to lick the spoon after it's all done, that's his prize for all of this. DESPITE EVERYTHING... Kano can cook without horribly destroying everything he touches... The pears get cored and sliced and sautéed in oil and a little sugar until it's nice and soft and then it gets sprinkled in a mix of cinnamon and sugar, yay, handwaving. ]

and yay for handwaving, alex is mashin' those pears and adding in the cinnamon and so much sugar. sometimes i remember how much sugar is in jam and wow i remember why i don't eat jam anymore. which is a shame because preserves and jam are delicious.

she's gonna dig around for labels for the jars and a pen though. ]

If I were labels where would I be...

Why label them? They can be a surprise.

If you put the date on the label you know when you made it and will have a rough idea if it's still good to eat though.

We know, so isn't that good enough? We can hide it somewhere! Like in the back of the freezer, or out in the woods.

And that is how people eat gone-off preserves and throw up on you.

[ time to go on pear watching duty until he gets back. ]

[ Oh... no... because Kano can't help the small smile that appears on his face when he hears that thank you, but by then he's already out the door and so nobody saw it and therefore it did not happen.

He'll be back in ten minutes, keep the pears safe until then! ]

[ she did not see, it's okay. his reputation is safe. and she's gonna protect those pears and make them good!! and tasty!! ]

[ I hope they poison someone in the future.

But Kano is back in his promised ten minutes with a roll of blank price tag stickers and a novelty Swan pen that has a teeny tiny little plastic swan at the very end that bobs around on a spring.

[ According to his mental calendar, anyways, which doesn't make sense because where is the August heat wave that makes you want to melt? ]

[ Honestly, without a schedule of any sort (haha what trials) the days blur together and it gets hard to tell when the week flips sometimes. ]

Why don'tcha just put tally marks on them, then people know how many days have passed? Then, we can check on 'em every day too and make sure no one's pilfered them!

I could do... the kitchen's one of the most used places anyway as well, so it should be easy to keep it up.
