WEEK ZERO: INVESTIGATION (?? remain) On Friday morning at 7am, all the doors will unlock and the participants may traverse between areas again. Participants will find that, as they leave wherever they slept, everything feels... unclear? Did they see whoever they were with? They can no longer remember. Even for those who spent the night alone, they can feel that something is off. It doesn't seem as though the Leaders are around. However, an alert will notify the participants to a new message on their PHS. Hello everyone. Apparently something happened last night while everyone was asleep. We're not sure what's going on, but there has been a huge disturbance with nova and the six of us are going to check it out. But it seems like something also happened in the town. Can you all please go and try to find the source of it? Sorry for troubling you! Time to investigate. ༶•┈┈⛧┈｡o°✥✣ 　　 ✣✥°o｡┈⛧┈┈•༶ Welcome to your first investigation! We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6pm EST and another set at 7pm EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8pm and 9pm EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9pm EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s). You could at least apologize to him. He worked hard on that. [jeez claude. and then to the squirrel:] We'll fix it, just wait a minute.

[why is this squirrel so fixated on the cloth?? also:] Um. Where'd Hilda go...?

[ Hilda finds the source of the screaming! She contributes with a gasp before running back, much more urgently than she'd meandered off. ]

Guys, something's wrong! Up ahead—there's a body!

[ She's not breaking down, but she's definitely distressed. No jokes here. What is happening? ]

[ The cloth is a square-ish shape, with one side looking like a torn edge.

Also, it's covered in dirt, grass stains, and... blood? Gross. The squirrel chitters angrily. ]

I did say sorry!

(It was literally the first thing he said to it. Anyway, this sure is interesting hmm. Is it made of a certain material? Maybe he might recognize it from someone's clothes...?)

Hey, is this... blood?!

(Oh no. He'll hold onto it for now, careful not to damage it or anything and then hurry off to catch up with Hilda who's screaming about a body?)

Hilda! We're coming!

(He's also checking out the ground around them because what else is this squirrel hiding. Is there tucked away in the brush? Did the squirrel hide away one of the missing kitchen knives in the bushes?????)

[uh. well. claude has the cloth and he's checking the material and color and the like which means sora's looking at if for a hot second before he hears hilda screaming.]

What? [there's another glance around the trees before he goes off toward the path hilda took, waiting for claude to come along.] What do you mean a body?

[ She's okay, trotting up to them so they don't need to come find her. Unless there's anything odd along the trail, anyway. ]

I mean exactly that—up along the trail, someone...

[ Ugh. ]

There's already people around there, so I just came back to tell you guys.

[ Claude will have trouble identifying the cloth because it is, again, covered in stains. Alas.

And Claude won't find anything else, except for the now scattered pile of acorns, you monster. Upon realizing it's not getting the cloth back, the squirrel gathers what acorns it can and sadly runs off before anyone can kidnap it for interrogation. ]

You're sure it was a body? (Like, actually? Really?) Do you know who it was?

(Dang, between here and the cloth.... is there anything else? He looks down at the ground. Any smudges? Maybe something that might match the cloth...?)

[reconnective]

Or who was already there? We should ask them if they found anything else. [since they found a stained cloth...]

[ No snark, she nods at both of them, because presumably she spotted the other team. ] I'm sure. If you keep following this path, you'll see her too—I think it was... Hajime?

[ Based on the profiles, anyway. ]

But you're right, we should definitely talk to the others.

[ Sure, maybe there's a smudge where the squirrel might've moved the cloth around in the dirt. ]

[riegan]

(His expression drops when he hears the name. He'd met her briefly. She'd helped him with his tasks earlier in the week.)

What's going on here? (Who would want to kill her? Ugh. ) Let's meet up with the other group and head back to tell the others. Someone might have noticed something.

Oh, by the way. (He holds out the cloth to Sora. It's dirty and there's blood so he knows better than to ask Hilda,) Hold onto this for me, will you?

I don't want to put it in my pocket on accident or anything like that...

(Also, his other hand is bleeding now (thanks, Squeakums) so he doesn't want to get anymore blood on it.)

[oh...bad. his own expression drops and he shakes his head.]

That doesn't make sense. How could she...? [but there's nothing to be done. he takes the cloth though and holds onto it.] I'll take care of it. Let's head back. We should get your hand cleaned up, too.
