WEEK ONE: TRIAL
WEEK ONE: TRIAL (38 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. Hopefully you found it in you to make and eat breakfast, despite yesterday's news. At 11am, everyone will receive a message on their PHS, simply stating: empoti enp emporium. by the strike of twelve. Shortly before 12pm, every participant will feel compelled to move towards the Emporium, if they aren't already there. No exceptions! Though they will have to navigate around shelves and merchandise and the like, everyone will fit neatly inside the room. Once all the participants are present and the clock strikes twelve, the doors lock behind them. Three of the Leaders are there with them: Swan, Tiger, and Goat. Tiger speaks. "You have nine hours. Try not to stab each other during them." Hello, everyone, and welcome to the second trial! For the next nine hours, the characters are expected to discuss among themselves, ask questions, examine the bodies of the victims, look over the evidence found yesterday, and revisit locations as needed in order to find the culprit(s). There'll be a one hour break from 5-6pm EST, where no mod tags will occur. Before the trial is over, please remember to place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. If you have any questions at any time, please let us know by pinging us on Discord! |

The people sleeping in their bedrooms didn't either, right? I wonder if perhaps that was because we were in the inn...

Some combination of being 'indoors' perhaps. Not in the Northern area, even though you were in a group.
Though... those in the forest didn't experience anything last week, did they? And Virid was among them.
[hmmmm, theory building with soo-won]

[ remind him (and me) he's old. i don't have to do research on old trials anymore ha ha ] It may be something to do with disturbances in the realm.

Though currently the theory runs best if it has two requirements: you needed to be outside, and you needed a group in order to receive an oddity. However the second stipulation is only to clear Clementine, who does not report having found anything strange despite falling asleep in the station, and Yona who did not experience anything strange in the Planetarium.
However, both the station and the Planetarium were involved in the murders.
Otherwise, everyone who was outside of the inn received an oddity.

[ theorizing 101!!! ] And Miss Cater was in the Planetarium with Miss Yona, so... what about Miss Sharon?

[ shaking his head. ] So, she could have been alone in her room.

... but if she was there - why would she leave? Going to meet her attacker...?
no subject
I'm not sure. Perhaps she heard a noise from Miss Cater and whomever her attacker was...? Maybe not being able to hear on the outside wears off when we're all asleep... though, she would've had to leave the room to hear anything, less they were shouting along the way.
I still have some questions about the effects of the sleep as well, too. ...Let me go confirm something, really quickly.
[ brb going to check in with the npcs.... pls hold ]
... According to them, all of the nova-related effects of our magic-induced sleep happened to those in the new area over the bridge, so what happened to you all in the plaza was unrelated. You woke injured, right?
no subject
But if the doors have locks on them that can't be opened without the device, and Emet-Selch was elsewhere... why would she choose to leave? To assist Cater? Though I still maintain that I don't think that Cater encountered her attacker in the town.....
[though - he looks surprised at that, there goes his curfew theory]
Mm, that's correct. All of us and - I believe Alex went to check if Goat was injured as well.

We didn't experience anything at all. Or, at least, I didn't.
no subject
Most people didn't - I believe only Rufus awoke with something odd on his face.
[ . . . ]
It's merely a theory I am building for now - I'm afraid I need more information first before I can confidently share it.

I didn't have anything weird last week, Haku-san. I was with Virid-kun and Yona-chan... Vesda-san was there, too.
no subject
Mm, that's right. Though it may be that the oddities only begun this week....
Well, we'll consider it for the future.

[she's fine she can sleep when she's dead
just gonna go right back to watching Kano flop around doing Kano stuff while also talking, it's fine]

[ And that's that on... well, that. Per Eski who is being eaten by real life: ]
He's asleep currently.
no subject
We'll wake him when the going gets tough then - or when we're victorious and need a feast planned.
[he likes claude!! let him rest.]
Though that's interesting - a group of you but you didn't suffer any effects. I do think that might be it's because you were in the inn.
So the question then becomes if the necessity to receive an oddity is to be outside and in a group.
no subject
He needs the rest, but I'm sure that he'll be more than willing to plan another feast once he's up again.
[ But, onto business. ]
En, we're all on the same page there. [ At least the ancient lads are. ] It's not something we should want to test, but regardless we may have to if this becomes a trend.
no subject
I wish there was a way to discern whether it's being alone or being in a location involved in murder that clears an oddity from a place.
[given that
clem and yona both fulfilled both of those conditions]
no subject
I feel as if there's no real reliable way to test the theory. We may try to arrange it so that we can have groups and loners spread out across the areas we can access, but anyone that was alone could very well find themselves under suspicion. [ For volunteering, for being alone at all, for having even a shred of evidence against them - and who's to say they aren't wandering freely rather than being in the place they're supposed to be, in that scenario? ]
Conversely, we don't have enough examples of whether an effect comes into play if your location was involved in a murder, so speculation there will have to remain barebones, until this happens again.
