WEEK ONE: REMOVAL (38 remain) Time to wake up, participants of the Realm. At 8am, everyone will receive a message on their PHS. Docking bay in space. 9AM. Even if the participants ignore the message (or are sleeping in, shame on them), as 9am approaches they will fall victim to a compulsion to head to the specified location. Three Leaders, Tiger, Swan, and Goat, are already present, Kano with them. Tiger speaks. "Let's... just get this over with." Once they finish speaking, an alert goes off from a PHS in the crowd—specifically, Jeanne's. Her PHS displays a simple message. You have been selected to remove Shuuya Kano. Regardless of her will, she will feel compelled to walk towards the scene. No other participant will be able to interfere; should they try, a barrier blocks their way, though it won't harm them.

Stars flash in front of Kano's eyes and the room pitches, Jeanne's retreating form tilting and darkening even as his knees hit something solid and his hand finds his boot. He has so many scalpels, you guys. His hand lifts and draws back, dislocated arm shaking as it tries to bear his weight from where he's half collapsed on the ground, and he throws. Not the soft, underhand toss of a Buddha's hand or ice cream baggie, but the practiced throw of a dart, straight and true, even as the world closes in around him.

The darkness feels familiar, but he can't understand why. It's cold, but he feels no fear, no anger, no pain— there's hope? There's a reason for hope, but he doesn't recall why.

As long as there is two, that's all that matters. It has to happen in pairs, and as long as he followed that rule, then... then he will...

The airlock opens, and his hand fumbles for his boot one last time. It's been taken away from him, before, this one last thing he has a claim to, but no more. He is no longer bound, there is nobody who has power over him anymore. His life is his own again, and so is his death.

The blade plunges into his throat and twists, tearing across with the last of his strength. There is no pain. He will not make Jeanne a murderer today. ]

[ The moment she sees what occurs, something cracks. Horror creeps up and takes over, and she can't stop the shout from coming forth. ]

Kano!

[ She is no stranger to self-sacrifice, but she would have preferred to carry the weight of murderer.

Once the reality hits, a different weight comes crashing down, and she pushes the lever. The airlock door closes, and Jeanne stays very, very still.

Shuuya Kano is dead. ]

[ The airlock closes, but not before Kano's body disappears into space. Bye, Kano.

With that said, once he's dead, the barriers blocking everyone go down. After manifesting their sword, Goat uses it as a crutch to help them stand, struggling to do so (getting shocked repeatedly does that to a person).]

... I will retrieve his body.

[ Tearing a portal open in the air, they step through and vanish. After a few moments, since there's nothing left for them to do, Swan takes a hold of Tiger and the two of them teleport away.

Later in the day, everyone will receive an alert for the NOVA CHECK app. Looks like weekly rankings are up! Furthermore, the Leaders will be responding to requests at the Planetarium again. ]

Jeanne doesn't move for a long moment even after she's addressed, but when she turns away from where Kano once was and looks at Ochako, her expression softens a fraction. She isn't smiling, but her appreciation is clear in her eyes. ]

[ It's not all because of the fire. It's mostly because she doesn't think her wounds are serious enough to need a magical cure. ]
