WEEK TWO: MINGLE

WEEK TWO: MINGLE (37 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed, and new buildings within the town have been unlocked. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Cater, Sharon, and Kano's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. If you break the current ninth rule, participants will get shocked. It will be a mild shock at first, but the longer they touch each other, the stronger it will get. On that note, if your character did not share a memory last week, please make sure to check your notifs! Participants may also find that their memories of the past few weeks are getting fuzzier... as though they can't recall some of the details without focusing. Finally, this week, every time a participant gets within one foot of someone, they will experience the emotions the other person is currently feeling and vice-versa. This will last for ten seconds even after they've stepped out of their personal bubble, after which the sharing itself might share, but the knowledge will not. Have fun!

[ okay OW. clem winces, but just kind of? suffers the pain to make sure ange is upright again? instead of pulling away quickly.

this also, of course, means they're close enough for emotion-share. which means ange just gets a deep, deep wave of exhaustion and anxiety and frustration and very little else. sorry. ]

[Clem is honestly better than Ange deserves. But either way, once she's settled, she tugs away her own hand, blinking at her fingers, and then at Clem.

Her own emotions are pretty muted--just a quiet, tiredly soft acceptance.

Of course this is what happens.]

[ she shakes her head. hm. somehow acceptance is kind of sadder than anything else? what the fuck? ] Don't worry about it.

... Maybe it's to make us want what we can't have?

That makes Ange tilt her head thoughtfully.]

... So that we long for it more, huh...? I suppose that makes sense. It... was nice, last week and the week before, to be able to hold hands and be close like that.

Just have to hope they aren't ramping up to something.

Anyway, we can still hang out, and I doubt this is permanent. So. When it's over.

Ange smiles at that, dipping her head.]

I'll be holding you to that, Clementine! When this is done, and we can again...

Now I find myself rather looking forward to it!

[ oh... even though it was her own offer, embarrassing... ange will feel that little wave of shyness from clem, like a small pulse of nervousness. ]

We'll see. Maybe you'll be over it by then.

[That embarrassment is cute, okay... Ange just smiles even more at that, her own emotions mostly quietly content.]

I can assure you, I do not see myself changing my mind any time soon! But for now... have you explored much of this place? Perhaps we can look around more together.

[ clem shakes her head no - she hasn't looked around that much yet. there's another little wave of uncertainty. ]

You sure you want to?

[ this time it's not because of the zaps. it's just that clem knows her own latent stress and exhaustion being so infectious...

who would want to hang out with that? ]

I'm quite certain!

[She just feels a little quietly amused in response. Clementine is so sweet... like a squishy marshmallow inside.]

You know... I still find your company delightful. Being able to feel some of your feelings has not changed that in the least.

You know that makes you sound crazy, right?

... Does it? Um, I cannot even begin to imagine why, in all honesty...

I didn't exactly show up here eager to make friends.

[ and she knows she's not being as overtly mean as she could be, but she still just thinks... a lot of people here are just sweethearts. and she doesn't think of herself that way. ]

[Ange rubs the back of her head at that, and her emotions are just quiet bemusement.]

I rather imagine many people did not. I feel as though you are trying to say your company is bad this week, Clementine.

I do not believe that is true at all. I like your company...! This week, as well as the other weeks.

[ that seems like the kind of thing you should say back to people? ]
