WEEK TWO: INVESTIGATION

WEEK TWO: INVESTIGATION (?? remain) On Friday morning at 7am, all the doors will unlock and the participants may traverse between areas again. Participants will find that, as they leave wherever they slept, everything feels... unclear? Did they see whoever they were with? They can no longer remember. Even for those who spent the night alone, they can feel that something is off. It doesn't seem as though the Leaders are around, but at this point, everyone should realize what has happened. Time to investigate. ༶•┈┈⛧┈｡o°✥✣ 　　 ✣✥°o｡┈⛧┈┈•༶ Welcome to your third investigation! We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6pm EST and another set at 7pm EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8pm and 9pm EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9pm EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s). [Thanks, Pep Talk Taako. Um. Since the flyer seems to covered, is there anything else obvious around? If there's not, he'll sort of saunter on over to the little townhouses. Any of the doors open on those bad boys.]

[ Well, honestly, these flyers are terrible. They seem to just be loose sheets of paper with arrows drawn on them pointing them further into town. Wait a minute, that's even worse than a shitty flyer. It's a shitty sign.

Taako looking further will find ... more paper signs taped up on some the townhouses. Hm. ]

[ taako, are you drunk? you seem drunk. ]

I'm guessing we're supposed to follow these then?

[ she'll turn the paper over a few times, to make sure there's no secret secrets, but ultimately she's going to head in the direction of those arrows. onwards and upwards! ]

[...sora takes the paper and just...laughs.]

They're helping us! [he is so thrilled about that! shitty sign or not, he will begin to follow the trail of arrows, picking up the papers as he goes so they can venture into town to see where they're going. he'll also continue checking their path for any items, blood, people, whatever.]

Like...a treasure hunt. But a really bad one with a stupid map.

[Squinting at the signs. Are any of the buildings unlocked? He'll try and open them. and are all the signs the same - the directional arrows? Also, muttering.]

Stupid signs. Trying to tell us what to do. Fuck off! You're not my dad.

[ The buildings are just as empty as usual and will lock behind Taako if he checks them out! The gang follows the path, but it'll quickly be apparent that the path the arrows are sending them on is ... well, it doesn't always make much sense and leads them in circles and dead ends a few times.

Oh, also, some of those paper signs have blood on the edge of them. Yay! Treasure hunt! Yaaay! ]

[ oh. thanks, she's hates it. time to gather up every bit of paper she sees and examine the parts of the paper that have blood on them. is there a pattern? any obvious connections between blood-edges and where they could overlap?

am i just talking crap? possibly. ]

If this is a treasure hunt, it's got no clear direction. Did you find anything in the houses, Taako?

[ if the arrows aren't leading them anywhere, then they'll have to start looking in different places under their own steam. ]

[well. sora's going to just go in a circle for a bit and once he realizes that their path isn't clear he stops and closes his eyes for a second. wow. that's terrible.]

They just want us to waste time again. [grumbly. he does not wait to hear what taako has to say and instead takes off in another direction, heading toward the pub and also the tailor as it is next to the pub. goodbye everyone, you can deal with the town. he is losing his patience and will check out if there's anything odd over in the two non-housing locations.]

Okay-- can I just say, whoever set up a fuckin' blood sign treasure hunt, then you can just fucking-- [RUBBING HIS TEMPLES.] God I hope we catch you. Psychotic shit.

[Is this just a huge waste of time. Is this supposed to confound them so we waste all our invest on these signs. Are all the marks on the sign the same? Made with the same thing and look like they're done by the same hand? He'll try following them some more, but, complaint has been LODGED.]

[ All the signs are the same loose pieces of paper with the same. I'd say handwriting but it's just drawn on arrows. The blood on the edge of some of them doesn't seem to have any deep pattern, just. Someone carelessly smudging blood on a piece of paper around the edges. There's a lot more signs that don't have blood than those that do, and I'm going to be nice and assure you that if you line them up no there is not a secret drawn pattern with the blood. If Taako keeps following them it'll send him all over with no rhyme or reason.

Sora isn't allowed to go to the pub because he's a child and it's in block 2, but yeah, he can go check out the tailor. There's nothing immediately out of place when he steps in... ]

[ thank you for slapping our eager little handsies, mods. anyway now it's clear there is no hidden message spelling out the killer on the signs, alex will gather up the ones she's got and head to follow sora in to the tailor shop. ]

Might as well stop indulging them then and try and find something ASAP.

[ well. now they're here, what if she goes and looks at some of the clothes on display. is there anything hiding in the display racks? under them? stuffed into one of the dresses like a terrible fleshy mannequin? ]

[...just casually using his sword to sort through clothes? he will not cut them up, but he's checking the doorframe and door itself, glancing up above him and starting to do a sweep of the floor because i think he's the shortest.]

Think there is anything to find here? What if...I dunno. This was just to distract us. But they didn't think we'd focus.

[ Taako, alone, abandoned, is just surrounded by his signs. :( Poor sweet Taako :( who has never done anything wrong :( and absolutely didn't just tune out the other two telling him they were done following signs :(

Anyway meanwhile, at the tailor shop. Looking through the clothes Alex won't find anything... until she gets to a glove section and stumbles unto a couple of pill bottles.

Sora's looking through other things himself and might notice the broom part of a broom just kind of hanging out by itself. It must be pretty difficult to use, considering there's no handle on that thing. ]

[ oh. hm. she's gonna .... put on a pair of gloves from just fair enough away from the bottles to hopefully not be involved, actually, and then pick up the pill bottles. there's been enough yelling about fingerprints the past couple of weeks.

is there anything on the bottles? what do they look like? can she see inside and see anything in them without opening the bottles, or are they opaque? ]

...where's the rest of it? [he will pick up the broom part of the broom to examine it. is there anything on it like blood, etc?

and then he'll also just drop down to the floor itself to see if he can find where the handle might've rolled away, etc. or anything else useful. it's nice down here.]

[Might as well just go to the tailor's shop to drown his sorrows with a new hat . . . ]

[Wow. Anyway. Guess he'll help? Anything else on the floor or on the ceiling? I will check every friggin' ceiling, so help me god. Also, is there a cash register or counter. Definitely checking that.]

[ Nothing on the ceiling or the counter, but Taako can have a few gold coins in the cash register because I think it's funny. I want to emphasize that it's me, the mod, making this joke, and it is not related to investigation at all.

Alex will find that the gloves she nabs are probably the last pair. Where did all the gloves go, damn?? The pill bottles are opaque, so she will have to open them up to see inside. According to the label, they are painkillers. It look like painkillers that you could find in the first aid station, in fact.

Sora won't find the broom handle anywhere, or anything of interest down on the ground. Also, how familiar with the pirate outfits here are all three of them, asking for a friend ]

[ mods you know very well alex stole like five pirate outfits and has like three pcs in this tailor's shop. she's familiar.

also wow where DID all the gloves go. anyway she's gonna open the bottles to take a look inside and make sure there isn't idek eyeballs in here or something. also, while we're here, can i get a description of the bottles? colour, etc? ]

Man, keep up! [he says. from the floor. give him a second. but also doubling that sora is semi-familiar because he's been here in a pc or two. but he will finally sit up and just...ponder what to look at next.

...can he start looking through the pockets of the outfits on display? he will do that.] What'd you guys find so far?

I was scoping out the area! Scoping it out. Definitely not at all sad I got left behind! Not at all.

[Just. If no one is looking at him, Taako, then he's sliding the gold coins into his pocket? The pocket of the pirate outfit he's currently wearing, because he's very, very familiar with the pirate outfits. And is in fact going over to look at them and the hats to see if there's anything good there.]

[ Becks did you just ask me to describe generic painkiller bottles. I don't know, they're white? They have a label and a child proof cap? They're also completely empty once she opens them. Not a singular pill OR a singular eyeball in sight.

But while they won't find anything else looking through pockets or pirate outfits, since all three of them have spent enough time here to familiarize themselves with the outfits, they might notice a particular awful outfit, mask included, is missing. This would be obvious because of how fucking awful it is. Especially the mask.

Also I continue to be nice to Taako and I say he finds a super great captain hat for later. It's word of mod now, you can't stop me. ]

anyway before we notice that truly terrible outfit missing that makes me jump at 12:47am when i clicked the link, alex is going to look through some of the other racks of clothes and do a sweep of the floor for any bits or pieces that might be lingering.

is there anything on the ceiling? did we check the ceiling? damn. ]
