WEEK ZERO: ARRIVAL (43 remain) Whatever each character was doing—chatting with friends, going to bed, saving the world—ceases. In fact, it's likely nothing more than a groggy memory now, as they open their eyes to unfamiliar surroundings. Apparently, they took a nap right in the middle of a small town, plopped outside on the paved road. Ow? Oh, but it looks like they've been given a goodie bag. Everyone likes gifts, right? Inside, it contains: - a single random one of the following headbands and sparklers - packets of tea - one unlabeled pill - a rock that resembles the galaxy - if they're of age, a mini bottle of alcohol; if they're underage, a can of Mountain D*w Baja Blast instead - a singular condom - a single random one of these pillows (how did this fit?) - a handheld device Should they boot up the device, the screen helpfully informs them that it's a Participant Help System (PHS). Not much on it, but it does have a few apps, including a memo one for taking notes. There's also a messaging system, though it's only capable of receiving messages, not sending any. As a matter of fact, there's an alert for a new message already. Maybe it'll explain what's going on. Good evening, everyone. Uh, how are we sure they’re arriving in the evening? Just say “hello”! A number of buildings are locked, and the Planetarium appears to be closed, but there's enough to keep the characters occupied for a day or two. They might even want to get to know their fellow "participants" better, while they're at it.

[ He starts pulling out all the drawers. ]

[ She shrugs - this is just her guessing so she's not married to the theory. ] Some of the buildings are locked. Could be one hidden.

Or this place could have been empty for a reason, and they just don't have any weapons.

[ He grunts in acknowledgement, still focused on digging through drawers. So far, nothing--basic utensils like forks and spoons, pots and pans and lids in the cabinets below...no knives yet though. ]

If they wanted it empty, they could've taken everything out of the gift shop place too. That place was full of all sorts of crap.

[ He looks up at Clementine suddenly and realizes, oh shit, it's a kid. ]

Uh. Junk.

I don't think anyone would clear out a gift shop. There's nothing useful there - I checked.

Pfft, anything can be useful if you get creative enough.

[ Luckily, though, Bucky doesn't need to be--because he's finally found a drawer with some cooking knives! ]

Aha! Finally.

[ He pulls one out--a good, all-purpose chef's knife. He runs his flesh thumb over the edge of it, testing its sharpness, before shrugging. ]

Eh, good enough.

Sure, but at a point it's not worth carrying gift-shop junk around.

[ But she will concede that a snow-globe cold do some damage to a walker's skull.

... And Clementine instinctively takes a step back once he's holding a knife. She doesn't look frightened or anything, though. ]

Eh. Depends on if you find anything better and you've got the space to carry it.

[ And this is Bucky walking over to the sink to wet the knife and then splash some water all over his jaw. Then he brings up the knife to his jawline and starts hacking away at his shitty half-beard. ]

[ Clementine snorts, and her shoulders relax a bit. ]

I just want my gun back, honestly.

[frostythehitman]

[ Bucky pulls out a pan from another drawer and props it up against the counter and the wall for a makeshift mirror as he leans in to try and get a decent knife shave. ]

Yeah? What kind was it?

I don't know the fancy name, but I had a shotgun for a while. Pistols are nice, too.

[ Don't have to know the names of guns to know how to shoot them. She sighs. ]

I'd even take a crossbow, right now.

[frostythehitman]

[ Well, "shotgun" and "pistol" are pretty vague but okay. ]

Pistols are pretty good. Flexible. They're my go-to.

You use 'em a lot?

[stillnot]

Well, yeah. It's dangerous not to know how.

[ Well that sure says a lot about the kind of person this is and what she does! ]

Can't say I'm a fan of not having any of mine on hand either. But hey, worst comes to worst, we've still got the knives.

[ Speaking of which, he nicks himself with it while shaving! He hisses and checks himself in the pan's reflection to see how bad it is. ]

Doubt it. Just gonna look like an idiot for a few days instead.

[ Squints. Not sure if that's sincerity, or her implying he just always looks like an idiot. ]

[ honestly it's kind of neither. she's just used to people looking very unkempt and that being the norm. who has the luxury to care about that kind of thing, these days...

like, she's covered in dirt and blood stains, and her hat is fraying at the logo. she's missing a finger. no one cares if you have a scab on your face! ]

[ ...well, she isn't starting to laugh at him, so he'll take it. He puts the knife down and crosses his arms. ]
