WEEK ZERO: ARRIVAL (43 remain) Whatever each character was doing—chatting with friends, going to bed, saving the world—ceases. In fact, it's likely nothing more than a groggy memory now, as they open their eyes to unfamiliar surroundings. Apparently, they took a nap right in the middle of a small town, plopped outside on the paved road. Ow? Oh, but it looks like they've been given a goodie bag. Everyone likes gifts, right? Inside, it contains: - a single random one of the following headbands and sparklers - packets of tea - one unlabeled pill - a rock that resembles the galaxy - if they're of age, a mini bottle of alcohol; if they're underage, a can of Mountain D*w Baja Blast instead - a singular condom - a single random one of these pillows (how did this fit?) - a handheld device Should they boot up the device, the screen helpfully informs them that it's a Participant Help System (PHS). Not much on it, but it does have a few apps, including a memo one for taking notes. There's also a messaging system, though it's only capable of receiving messages, not sending any. Yeah. The trouble is that the barrier keepin' us in town seems like magic to me, and if everyone's in the same boat as me, there's somethin' keeping all of us from doing magic to dispel it.

Loathe as I am to concede that. I've experienced and broken my fair share of magical barriers, with or without finding the focus for the magic itself, but here we are. [ Oh well, probably the same concept as he's used to, just weird word mush instead. ] There's also the matter of the castle, and the fact that there's magic similar to a maze array in effect to keep us from getting close to it.

It's common enough for nobles and sects to have that sort of magic set up in places they don't want trespassers, so the fact it's at the castle here doesn't shock me, no matter how different this... village is. [ Whatever it is. ] Our hosts might even be in the castle for all we know.

That's what I was thinkin'. Which is worrying, because it either means they're nobles or fancy themselves to be. Either way, that means they're probably gonna be stubborn and outta touch.

Something that's hard to tell, honestly, which is all the more worrying. I've known my fair share of "nobles" that have been this much of a mess. [ Gods, too, but he'll lump them in with nobles. ] We'll certainly see if they make good on the "see you soon."

I feel like they have ta show up if only to tell us what they want from us. If they just wanted to make a show of us bein trapped in here there'd be no point fer them to leave us a message in the first place.
