Whatever each character was doing—chatting with friends, going to bed, saving the world—ceases. In fact, it's likely nothing more than a groggy memory now, as they open their eyes to unfamiliar surroundings. Apparently, they took a nap right in the middle of a small town, plopped outside on the paved road. Ow?

Oh, but it looks like they've been given a goodie bag. Everyone likes gifts, right? Inside, it contains:

a single random one of the following headbands

a rock that resembles the galaxy

a single random one of these pillows

Should they boot up the device, the screen helpfully informs them that it's a Participant Help System (PHS). Not much on it, but it does have a few apps, including a memo one for taking notes. There's also a messaging system, though it's only capable of receiving messages, not sending any. As a matter of fact, there's an alert for a new message already. Maybe it'll explain what's going on.

Oh dear. I don’t know if this is going to be edited, so if it isn’t, then I do apologize to the participants for our lack of organization. We’re doing our best! Probably.

Er, what? Unfortunately, it seems as though that's the only info they're given for now. In the meantime, why not explore the surrounding area? A number of buildings are locked, and the Planetarium appears to be closed, but there's enough to keep the characters occupied for a day or two. They might even want to get to know their fellow "participants" better, while they're at it.

Yeah, I'm not really a tea guy myself. [he scratches the back of his head.] But we can get you something else if you want.

Pika? [ ohhh. now you're talking his language kid!!! also, his bag is empty, so he is shoving everything back into the bag. or. well, attempting to. pikachu can barely lift the pillow so this is a lot harder than it looks ]

[see the problem is that pikachu's actively responding and seems to understand everything he's saying. so as far as he's concerned, he's no different than, say, zero or little chef. while pikachu's putting the smaller items in the bag, sora will just pick up the pillow to help him out.]

Got all that? [can pikachu even carry the bag by himself...] There's a kitchen at that inn down the road. Are you hungry?

[ he can ... drag... the bag by himself, which is exactly what he's attempting to do. ]

Pika... [ a kitchen, he says. there might be coffee there. well, if he's going to be lost, he might as well be lost with coffee. ] Pipikachu! [ lead the way, young man! ]

[you're doing great sweetie. sora keeps the pillow under one arm and walks slow enough that pikachu can keep up with his bag. he'll help if he's struggling but he's doing fine for now.]

This way. [and so they walk!] I haven't looked at everything they have, but I'm sure we can find something for you. But if you have a bag that means you woke up here just like everybody else, huh?

[ it's not much of a walk and more of an awkward waddle and slow drag, so. sora will probably help soon enough, lbr. ]

Pikapi! [ he sure did wake up here. it was weird. he frees one paw up to put it to his ear and go "pikapika" like he's talking into a cellphone. he saw the message? he has no idea what's going on. ]

[he...will...it's fine. he's also watching with rapt attention because the worst is that he actually gets what he's trying to say.]

I don't really get it either, but it sounds like someone needs our help. So we'll just have to wait until they show themselves. [but okay. pikachu's baby and it's kind of hard to watch him continue struggling with his stuff. sora stops and crouches down again.] Here. [and he holds out his hands. pikachu can either hand him the bag or be carried, sora is giving him options.]

[ oh thank god he's immediately abandoning his bag and climbing up sora's extended arms to his shoulder. hello, world and goodbye walking. ]

Pika-chu! [ excellent. this is a much better vantage point. anyway, what was the kid saying? waiting... pikachu makes a little huff noise ] Pipipi. [ if he taps where a watch would be on his tiny pawpaw will sora get that waiting sucks. it is so long. why aren't they being given answers now smh ]

Whoa! [okay, well, he stands still until pikachu's balanced before he slowly gets to his feet, the pillow under his arm and the bag in his hand.] Okay. Here we go.

[and so they walk again. he's turning his head slightly to listen to pikachu, nodding in understanding.] I wish they'd be a little faster, too. How're we supposed to know how to help them if they're making us wait? But it's not so bad. We have a place to stay and there's a lot of food and stuff.

[...but he has to ask.] You don't recognize any of the people here, do you?

[ pikachu seems to have no trouble hanging onto sora's shoulder, at least? he is having a GREAT time, in fact. thank you. walkies is great. he shakes his head at sora's question, looking a little dejected. ]

Pikapi... [ he pokes sora's cheek. do YOU, kid ] Pika?

[he tries not to twitch in surprise when pikachu pokes his face but he shakes his head because this is before he's realized elsa's here.]

Mm-mm. I was hoping maybe my friends would be here somewhere, but I haven't seen anybody. [and there's a light frown.] Maybe that's a good thing though. We don't know why we're here yet, but at least they're safe somewhere else.

Pikaaa... [ he puts his paws around himself tightly, like he is tied up ] Pipipi?

[ what if their friends have been taken HOSTAGES, sora. or what if THEY are the hostages? ARE WE SURE THEY'RE SAFE ]

[that one's a little harder to figure out but he seems to get the gist of it.]

You think they could be in trouble? [...well he didn't think of that, but.] I dunno. This place doesn't feel too bad. We should be able to trust it for now. [and by now they're entering the inn and he's carrying pikachu to the kitchen.] This is where we're all staying. It's cool, isn't it?

[sora shut up and make the rodent coffee.]
