WEEK ONE: MINGLE

WEEK ONE: MINGLE (40 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Hajime, Pikachu, and Virid's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Finally, this week, the participants will find themselves drawn to one person in particular. Whoever that is, they will find themselves compelled to be close to them physically. The longer they attempt to resist this, the more compelled they will be... and the closer they will want to be, to the point that it might be emotionally and physically draining to not be holding hands or hugging them for several hours because you've ignored them too long. That's fun.

[ she didn't mean to but it's fine, and izumo's hand will stop just shy of the "off" button before she turns around. she just stares for a moment as she decides on how she wants to respond to this. ]

It's not nice to sneak up on people.

[ not that she was really sneaking intentionally...? probably. ]

[She was not, but also, a valid assumption.

Ange straightens immediately.]

I--I'm very sorry! That is true. This was all very rude of me, I just--um, I had no idea what was in here. But...

[ ugh. izumo can't do anything about the politeness. ]

[ a bit of a pause as she tries to decide on how to continue. there's a big part of her that still wants to shut it up but... she lowers her hand and allows it to stay longer. ]

I grew up here.

[... Ah. Ange straightens a bit at that.]

In a place like this...?

... It is very soothing here. I've never seen anywhere like it... so I'm very glad I was able to see this.

We're from different worlds, right? I'd be surprised if you had.

[ kind of? then again, being from a different place doesn't mean she shouldn't have her own version but whatever. izumo is having a hard time dealing with this. ]

...but it's a shrine. They're not supposed to be chaotic.

What is a shrine supposed to be like...? This does not look much like a church.

[sacredchants]

[ hmmm...how would someone describe a shrine to someone who was unfamiliar to them? izumo is familiar with the church enough but there are still the little nuances here and there. ]

It's because they're two different things. [ izumo crosses her arms across her chest. ] The biggest thing, I guess, would be that shrines are more of places than a building.

There were multiple buildings on the grounds of where I lived but it was still the same shrine.

[lecarre]

[Hmmm... she looks contemplative.]

But it is still a place of worship...?

[sacredchants]

[ worship? hmm. not exactly..... ]

Respect and tribute.

The lands are sacred and are blessed by the god that they represent. Those who live on the land are at there because the gods have allowed them to be. [ she pauses for a moment, considering something. ] The grounds I grew up were blessed by a fox god.

[lecarre]

Oh, I see... That truly is very different.

[Hmmm...]

Still, blessed by a fox god...! That sounds incredible. It is so different from anything else I've ever heard.

[sacredchants]

Y, yeah, well... I'm sure most people have all sorts of different things in their world.

[ now to shift gears. ]

You only have churches from where you're from?

[lecarre]

Yes... or at least, that is all I've seen. But I am from only one city, and the world is very vast...!

I'm sure there is so much I've yet to see. Seeing things like this only reminds me how exciting that is.

[sacredchants]

There is definitely out there to see—even places that we didn't know about.

[ example: where they all are. ]

If you're excited about it all, were you excited to be here at first?

[lecarre]

Oh, I was! I mean... it was alarming, that is for certain, but so much of it was brand new.

[now it's just kind of Bad though.]

I suppose... we must hold onto the light when we are able to do so, especially now.

[sacredchants]

[ frowns. everything is Bad. well, things still look like they may be good but ultimately they are Bad. ]

Hold onto the light?

[ that's...interesting phrasing. ]

[lecarre]

[She nods firmly.]

Right! Even if things are difficult... even if you are in absolute darkness, so long as you have a single source of light, you can still see your way.

Um... metaphorically too, I think.

[sacredchants]

[ huh. ]

That sounds too... [ what is the word she is looking for?? embarrassing? optimistic? ] I don't think I could be a person who could get away with saying that.

[ izumo knows what's she's about. ]

[lecarre]

Eh...?

[Ange blinks at that, clearly puzzled for a moment before it seemingly clicks.]

I... suppose it was pretty embarrassing, wasn't it...?

[ izumo isn't going to say anything else but tilt her head to a side.. ]

You must be pretty brave to say things like that.

Er, I'm not so sure about that...

It is just how I feel--is that so strange?
