WEEK ONE: MINGLE

WEEK ONE: MINGLE (40 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Hajime, Pikachu, and Virid's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Finally, this week, the participants will find themselves drawn to one person in particular. Whoever that is, they will find themselves compelled to be close to them physically. The longer they attempt to resist this, the more compelled they will be... and the closer they will want to be, to the point that it might be emotionally and physically draining to not be holding hands or hugging them for several hours because you've ignored them too long. That's fun.

[ Dorothy, being from ye olde Englande, understands the fascination, but he's looking a fair bit... squished. She just has to ask. ]

[ oh.

xie lian didn't even realize he was that squished, at first - he blinks at his own reflection, and then pushes back from the glass with a little laugh. ]

Ah...I just couldn't help myself, I guess. It's so beautiful: I've been many places in the world, but I've never been outside of it.

[misstrust]

I don't think many of us can claim that particular honor, myself included!

[ She'd honestly thought such a thing was impossible. ]

But you still have me beat. Are you a traveler?

[dianxias]

Do you think there are those among us who have? What a fascinating journey it must have been. I wonder how we even got here?

[ a beat. wait. the nice woman asked him a question. ]

Ah - something like that. [ with a little smile! ] At home, I have only recently settled into a place to call my own.

[misstrust]

If they were rude enough to kidnap us in the first place, the least they could have done was let us enjoy the ride.

[ Dorothy says this dryly, even though her slight grimace vanishes so she can respond to him properly. ]

Do you think that means you'll be staying in one place for a while, then? When you return, of course.

... That does sound nice, but I've always wanted to travel more.

[dianxias]

Mm, it does. [ ah. he pauses, thoughtful. ] ...well, home was quite busy, when I left, but I think that it means truly that I will have somewhere to return to, no matter where I go.

[ he smiles, reaching out for the glass, briefly. ] Even out to the stars.

Do you not get to travel very often, young lady?

[misstrust]

[ He has a very poetic way of speaking, she can't help but notice.

She... does not, but it makes her smile, even as she shakes her head. ]

A revolution happened when I was still rather young. It's still not all that safe for anyone who's not a wealthy noble to travel.

-- Ah, but you can just call me Dorothy.

It's a pleasure to meet you properly, Miss Dorothy. I don't think we've spoken before this - my name is Xie Lian.

[ with a nice, polite little bow.

it's funny, how some things don't change much. a revolution, huh... his brows knit, a little, genuine. ] I'm sorry to hear that. I pray that things will become peaceful enough in your home that you will be able to, soon.

[ a pause. ] To be able to be in the very stars themselves - that's quite the first trip!

Right, I've obviously seen you around-- you're hard to miss. [ It's a compliment, probably. ] But it's nice to meet you too, Xie... Lian.

[ She says it a little tentatively; she's British, she's not that good with the name. ]

But you're right. I think perhaps I inadvertently aimed too high, if something like this was the first!

[dianxias]

[ xie lian has a smile for her when she says his name, encouraging! he doesn't do much better with 'dorothy' so it's fine. ]

Maybe - perhaps it will make the trips aside from this one more enjoyable, since we didn't get to experience how to get here, in the first place...? [ optimistically!! ] I didn't even think such a thing was possible....

[misstrust]

... I'm starting to think anything is possible now. I've been meeting beautiful people that are centuries older than me and centaurs and now this...

[ It's a Lot. ]

Have you met many people who are centuries older than you...?

...well, yes.

[ (sweats) ] It is so odd just to have that as common knowledge...
