WEEK ONE: MINGLE

WEEK ONE: MINGLE (40 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Hajime, Pikachu, and Virid's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Finally, this week, the participants will find themselves drawn to one person in particular. Whoever that is, they will find themselves compelled to be close to them physically. The longer they attempt to resist this, the more compelled they will be... and the closer they will want to be, to the point that it might be emotionally and physically draining to not be holding hands or hugging them for several hours because you've ignored them too long. That's fun.

It's similar where I'm from. We try to honor them after they die. We go to church, have a whole ritual, say some prayers, and lay them to rest.

(Wistfully,)

... It's pretty mournful.

She'll offer a smile at how quiet and sad his voice drops.]

I don't think that's a bad thing.

When somebody is gone, and your heart hurts like that with a lot of other people... it means that person really was loved, doesn't it?

That's one way to put it. But the whole thing is pretty depressing and isn't everyone already sad enough? There are some places that make a huge celebration out of it, choosing to remember the person's life and all they've done instead.

I think that's more my style. If I die, the last thing I want anyone to be is be miserable.

Something like that, sure. I mean, if you really love someone, why send them off so miserably? It's your last chance to let them know how much you love and respect them before you send them away to... well, where ever you think their souls go or something.

(Yeah, he's not too religious.)

Chijin-san told me about people from his land sending gifts to the dead, so that they knew they were still being thought about. I don't know if that's true, or if everyone's world has anything like an afterlife. But even if they're just memories... they should still be good memories.

(Honestly..........)

Heh, I like that. (He hadn't heard of that one. Color him interested. ) If you believe they're still sticking around and watching from beyond the veil or something, it makes sense to send a little something their way.

Every world is different. Actually, where I'm from, there are several different belief systems... it's all pretty interesting.

Chijin-san says his people would send money! He was trying to do that for Hajime-chan and Virid-kun and Pikachu, but he was doing it in the kitchen and that's kind of dangerous, so I'm trying to see if there's a better place. [She points to her rock project.]

Mmn, Earth is like that, too! My country has a few, and there's a lot of people that don't believe in anything at all! And there's so many countries that exist outside of us, too... they can't all believe the same things, you know? They can feel the same things, though, and I think that's more important.

[riegan]

(Wait... Chijin is... a person... who is here? HE THOUGHT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE FROM BACK HOME. Who the heck is Chijin, did he miss memo?)

Oh. (He looks over at her little rock project,) Is that what you were working on? Some sort of... marker?

[heartablaze]

Yeah. I wanna ask the leaders about it... there's gotta be something we can ask for to make a memorial that looks nice. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything, but... I really, really don't want us to forget them.

I'm just trying to find a good spot.

[riegan]

Then ask.

(He's nothing but encouraging. He loves the idea,)

And if you have any trouble, I'd be more than glad to help. To be honest, the reason why I asked about this all in the first place was because I wanted to see how people would feel about this exact thing.

[heartablaze]

[A beat, before her expression softens.]
