WEEK ONE: MINGLE

WEEK ONE: MINGLE (40 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Hajime, Pikachu, and Virid's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Finally, this week, the participants will find themselves drawn to one person in particular. Whoever that is, they will find themselves compelled to be close to them physically. The longer they attempt to resist this, the more compelled they will be... and the closer they will want to be, to the point that it might be emotionally and physically draining to not be holding hands or hugging them for several hours because you've ignored them too long. That's fun.

No. [ they put a hand to their chest before they shake their head ] It's just...different, I think. I don't remember it, but I guess I never went to space!

[chanteuser]

[ ... there’s a pause, and then she laughs. ]

Until now?

Have you looked at the stars when you’re in the plaza? It’s... different to looking at them here, or in the planetarium. But it’s still pretty.

[ they agree with a grin ]

No, I've mostly stayed with the castle before now. I've seen the Planetarium plenty, but I don't know, I guess since I knew it was a building, it wasn't the same?

[chanteuser]

It's nice, but knowing it's all faked takes a bit of the magic away. If you stargaze from the ground though, you can make up your own constellatons.

I don't remember any of the ones where I'm from, so I just started looking for pictures or things that looked familiar in the sky and coming up with my own.

[retellers]

I don't either, but... Even looking through the ones in the Planetarium, nothing feels familiar. Totally makes sense, but it's kind of annoying anyway.

[ they look at alex curiously ]

So which ones have you made up?

[chanteuser]

I don't know any of the ones back home either. But they're still nice to look at.

It looks like a cat stretching itself out, but with its tail sticking up in the air?

[ well, they're laughing ]

Sooo, like cloud watching, but with connect the stars. Okay. [ they motion for alex to step closer to the window and play connect the stars with them ] So do all constellations sound like that? The "us" thing?

[chanteuser]

Something like that. [ she moves closer, squinting at the stars outside. will it be easier or harder from here? ]

I'm not sure. But they're usually in some kind of fancy dead language that sounds like that? You could just call it "cat relaxing", though.

[ sounds less interesting though? maybe. ]

[retellers]

Okay. So... if you put those together with those... [ they're "drawing" on the window with their finger to connect the dots ] That looks like it'd be Icius Creamius Conius. Right?

[chanteuser]

[ she's following it with her eyes ]

-- Oh that that bit there is part of the ice-cream top? I see it. [ and then she points at a cluster near to it, finger following a pattern of the stars. ]

And that looks like Hambergus Maximus.

[ there's a long pause ]

What's a hamberg?

[chanteuser]

Like a hamburger?

[retellers]

... Um...

[chanteuser]

... You don't know what a hamburger is?

[retellers]

[chanteuser]

[ oh bless you swan ]

It’s a meat or vegetable patty between two rounded pieces of bread. [ she makes a little dome shape with her fingers ] You put sauces and things like cheese, tomato, and onions and stuff in-between the bread.

Like... a sandwich?

[chanteuser]

Like a sandwich but not. It’s ... more? I guess?

[ hmmm ]

I’ll have to try and make one, sometime.

[retellers]

A sandwich but... more. Like it's... a bigger sandwich??

[chanteuser]

A super sandwich.

... Do you prefer meat or vegetables?

[retellers]

Super...

[ they sound intrigued ]

In a sandwich? Meat, I think?

Any kind? It's usually beef, or pork but you can do other kinds of burger.
