WEEK TWO: TRIAL

WEEK TWO: TRIAL
(35 remain)

Rise and shine, gremlins. Hopefully you found it in you to make and eat breakfast, despite yesterday's news. At 11am, everyone will receive a message on their PHS, simply stating:
This is your reminder to be at the Emporium by 12 PM.

Shortly before 12pm, every participant will feel compelled to move towards the Emporium, if they aren't already there. No exceptions! Though they will have to navigate around shelves and merchandise and the like, everyone will fit neatly inside the room. Once all the participants are present and the clock strikes twelve, the doors lock behind them.

Three of the Leaders are there with them: Wolf, Rabbit, and Fox. Fox speaks.

"... Third time isn't the charm, as it turns out. You have nine hours. We'll help with what we can, as before."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial! For the next nine hours, the characters are expected to discuss among themselves, ask questions, examine the bodies of the victims, look over the evidence found yesterday, and revisit locations as needed in order to find the culprit(s). There'll be a one hour break from 5-6pm EST, where no mod tags will occur.

Before the trial is over, please remember to place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

If you have any questions at any time, please let us know by pinging us on Discord!

[Nod. Nod.]

Um. We still don't really know who stabbed Brick-san, or why. Did that happen after he got shot. . . ?
frostythehitman: (idk about that)

[personal profile] frostythehitman 2020-10-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it happened before. I can't see a reason for anyone to stab him in the back after they've already shot him from the front.

It looks like a backstabbing, though I don't know the timeline is for that. If it was done before, why was he shot front to back? He would stumble forward after being backstabbed, not turn around...

This is a farfetched idea, but maybe it wasn't on purpose? Maybe something happened to his body after he was killed. Eh. I don't know. I'm throwing stuff out there.

Or someone failed to kill him, by stabbing him in the back. The gun was to finish the job.

Honestly, I'd just shoot first instead of resorting to stabbing...but maybe they didn't anticipate Laine putting up a fight, what with those tears in the costume.

I think the tears on the costume are from the fight Raven put up, to be honest with you. There was a lot of broken glass, in the end, and he had his weapon with him. Laine showed no signs of defending himself, and there weren't any signs of a struggle on the boat. Just the blood from where he was shot leading to the cannon he was found inn.

Yes, but consider this. The tears were made afterward to throw us off, and weren't done in a fight whatsoever. If the spear and the gun were both used, then that implies a person who didn't want to fight up close.

I don't think the costume was used in Raven's case, because of all the gloves being smaller, but I could be wrong.

If the tears were made after, why do they have blood on them?
robopriest: (aleppo)

[personal profile] robopriest 2020-10-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Made with the knife at the end of the spear, I'm guessing. The blood was already on it, but there was no wound underneath.

[ With everyone panicking over Dorothy, here we are. ]

If we get too close to one another, we can feel each others' emotions. If we touch each other, we shock one another. Range implies either that they didn't want to be detected or sensed, that they didn't want to risk losing an upperhand because of being shocked, or they weren't confident regarding their ability in taking down an opponent head-on.

[ Laughingly, if darkly: ] I rescind my comment on the bar fight causing the damage to the clothing. There could very well have been no fight, if the drink was drugged.
robopriest: (fatalli)

[personal profile] robopriest 2020-10-17 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
....Yes, you're right. The fight was staged. Then people who we had to rule out before because of lack of fighting ability are still, unfortunately, suspects.

Both of these murders seemed to be done to avoid actual fights.
recrowns: (➸ it's not enough)

[personal profile] recrowns 2020-10-17 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
If we care enough to completely change methods, we could fingerprint the spear instead.
uhhhmagic: (instant summons;)

[personal profile] uhhhmagic 2020-10-17 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Would they still have been wearing gloves while spear-wielding?
recrowns: (➸ you are cooling off)

[personal profile] recrowns 2020-10-17 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd thought that the gloves were tied more to Raven's murder than to Laine's, but that admittedly hasn't been completely confirmed.

Do we even know where this broom piece came from?
uhhhmagic: (seeming;)

[personal profile] uhhhmagic 2020-10-17 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We found the other part of the broom in the, uh, Tailor's shop. But I don't know if it started broom life there or was brought from someplace else, but I think it must have been constructed there.

I guess that means maybe we can assume one murderer was in the tailor's shop at the beginning of the night. They had the pill bottle there too.
bisouled: (and agony)

[personal profile] bisouled 2020-10-17 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good idea. Is it clean enough to do that, though? It was out in the swamp and all.
recrowns: (➸ but the real bombshells)

[personal profile] recrowns 2020-10-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure what state it was found in.... If a part of it was above the water perhaps?

[he doesn't know how fingerprints work in detail he's olde]
bisouled: (i'm wading in and i wonder)

[personal profile] bisouled 2020-10-17 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not, either. But I think it's worth a try, if we aren't going to check the mugs. It's got to be connected.
