WEEK FIVE: MINGLE
WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward. |

this is the moment where i, britt, realize i'm garbage at writing fight scenes and regret writing a prompt that could potentially lead to many of them. anyway, xie lian is the better swordsman by far - but each time he picks up on one of her openings, it does indeed teach her how to avoid them in the future. there's likely nothing she can teach him, but at least he seems to be enjoying himself.
quick sisi roll a dice lets give one of them a stupid injury somehow.]

so anyway!! they continue to clash swords for a good ten-fifteen minutes. xie lian's smile remains, guiding and proud, as he ducks her strikes as light as a feather, blocking her one handed. there's a moment where she does something a bit less predictable, and xie lian makes a delighted noise, though he accidentally nicks her in the forearm with the sharp edge of his blade.
ah. oops. probably time to stop before he gets too into it. xie lian suddenly steps into yona's space, and with a swift movement from his sword arm and a push of his strength, moves to disarm her and knock the blade out of her hand. ]

she should bandage that up later. but it's just a nick, so it's fine. yona's eyes go wide as he easily disarms her. the blade goes clattering to the ground, and she moves to retrieve it, trying to catch her breath as she goes.]
...you're so good at this.
[she feels kind of proud of herself for just being able to keep up for as long as she did, honestly.]

That being said - you did wonderfully, Miss Yona! There's a certain ferocity to the way that you use a blade that reminds me of someone else... While a bow may be your strong suit, with the right blade and tutor, you could easily become a master swordsman as well! I'm very impressed.

...I can't remember him, but from what I was told - the person who taught me was incredibly skilled. I hope, when I go back, I'll be able to surprise him with how much I've improved.
[which means
lots of practice, since she's, like, five weeks behind on her training!]
I want to keep getting stronger.

...Well, how about I share some techniques with you, then?

Yes, please!

Excellent! I am a martial artist by trade, but swordsmanship is really my area of expertise, so I have plenty of tricks I can share. I used to have the nickname 'flower in one hand, sword in the other', you know! And I am sure there will be things that you can teach me, too.
[ EXCITING!!! ]

[that's... certainly a nickname! yona really can't help but be curious.]
How did you get that nickname?

[ ...
hm. ]
...A very long story, but it is supposed to be a metaphor... I ascended as a martial god, because of my combat skills, but I guess I was well known for my personality...? Or something.
...I've never really thought about it before, it wasn't a nickname that I chose...
[ ?????????????
don't make him think about this ]

[...does it, yona??]
You have a great personality, and flowers are pretty great, too.

At any rate, the sword is the part that matters.

[right! they were talking about swords to start with.]
Anyway, you're incredibly skilled! Thank you for taking the time to help me practice - I really appreciate it.
