WEEK FIVE: MINGLE

WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward.

I'm not, uh - fantastic at piano. Violin is more my thing.

Come here, let me show you. [ sit down and let her show you the keys!! ]

[reconnective]

I don't know how to do that either. [but he'll shift closer and eagerly look at the keys.] There's way too many of them to keep track.

[evocationary]

It's muscle memory for the most part. [ she nudges his fingers into the right place, and then directs him - ring finger, middle finger, pointer finger - until he's got the first couple of notes down. ]

[reconnective]

[he's looking at his hands to try and memorize the position of his fingers, slowly and almost-awkwardly pressing the keys for the notes. the dragon stomps its feet uncertainly and nervously, but it settles down again as he continues.]

It's a different kind of muscle memory than what I'm used to.

[evocationary]

[ the weasel squeaks and curls around the dragon like it's going to be able to do anything to settle it down. ]

Yours is probably more along the lines of swords, I guess? [ she hums, nudging him. ] You got this, though.

[reconnective]

[the weasel helps because the dragon sort of flops over and gives up its squirming.]

Swords and fishing and climbing, yeah. [island life! but he'll continue pressing on the keys like he's afraid of breaking the piano, eventually making the sounds a little louder.] How's that?

[evocationary]

Better! Better than me, even, wow. Can't have that. I'm afraid I'm going to have to get rid of you. Permanently!

[ and then she jabs her fingers into his sides and proceeds to like, tickle-grab at him. sometimes she just wants to goof around.

her weasel definitely chews on the dragon's ears. ]

[reconnective]

[at first he's a little confused while she's talking but then she's VERY RUDE and he's immediately laughing and trying to squirm away. he's not trying that hard though and the dragon makes a kind of amused snorting noise while the weasel chews.]

Now you're not playing fair! Heeeey! [lup!!!]

[evocationary]

[ she's laughing by the end of it, but she eventually lets him squirm away, settling back on the bench. it's good to see him laugh! she's very fond. ]

Hm. Tougher than you look. [ tease, tease. ]

[reconnective]

[ahahah. it's better than last week, isn't it?]

And don't you forget it! [he's so pleased with himself.] Besides, I've been getting better by learning from the best.

[evocationary]

[ for now uwu ]

Flatterer! [ she pinches his nose. ] Keep practicing. Maybe we can play together, once you don't suck at the keys.

[reconnective]

[the dragon suddenly boops itself into the weasel's face gently. affectionately.]

Just saying. [but he looks at the keys again.] That'd be pretty cool though. I don't know that many songs I could try to play, but even one would be fun.

[evocationary]

[ the weasel squeaks! and then licks the dragons face. ]

Thankfully for you, I know about a million songs, so we'd make it work. [ she leans against him. ] There's magic in music. Always has been.

[reconnective]

[thanks weasel.]

You think so? [he presses another key.] It felt like that when we were visiting the world the king was in as an apprentice. Music changed everything. Maybe something magical will happen this week then.

[like maybe nobody will die brutally. that'd be great.]

[evocationary]

I know so. [ she absently plays a few notes, frowning just a little in concentration. ]

Bards do it all the time. Combine the two, I mean. Maybe your king did sort of the same thing?

[reconnective]

Mm...I'll be honest, I never really know what the king has and hasn't done. In that world though, he was still learning how to be a Keyblade wielder. Maybe I'll get to ask him someday.

[but he's listening to the song anyway.] What's that one?

[evocationary]

You will. [ she hums, firmly. ]

Uh... don't know! It's, uh. Something I heard while I was in the umbrella. I think... Magnus, and Taako, they were... with someone else, and they heard it. It gets stuck in my head sometimes.

[reconnective]

I like it. I can see why it'd get stuck if you heard it. [...he presses a key to try and replay it but doesn't get very far at all.] Does Taako know how to play stuff, too?

[evocationary]

Nah, he spent his year making a quote book, I think? Or was that a different year. Anyway! Doesn't matter.

I don't think he plays, unless he learned while I was dead.

[reconnective]

[hm. well. if lup says it doesn't matter then it probably doesn't matter.]

I haven't asked him. Most of my conversations with Taako are about other stuff anyway. But maybe I will this time.
