WEEK FIVE: MINGLE

WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward.

That could be nice! And stars.

I'm not sure about what to sculpt, though.

[Dorothy can come up with something, he's sure.

Rufus, on the other hand, has no idea how to make paper lanterns. He can experiment with a star, so he handles a piece of paper with his right arm and attempts to cut with his left hand when the scissor goes completely off mark. He's not sure what shape he just made.]

Dorothy-san, what color flowers do you think we should use? Should we use pink to match the castle?

[ ...she's watching as rufus makes an attempt with the paper, though, and frowns. ]

Um... Maybe one of us should handle the paper decorations.

[misstrust]

[ ... yikes. ]

Your hand was deft enough before... are the scissors rusted?

[ ANYWAY. ]

Ochako, do you want to make the lanterns? I think pink and purple flowers would work fine to complement, too.

[soulus]

[The wolf beside him huffs and whines as she picks herself up to sit in the corner, relatively out of sight. Rufus sets the scissors down.]

Who will pick the flowers?

[ looks at rufus with his messed up hands
looks at dorothy with her messed up leg

hm. ]

Dorothy-san, can you handle that, or should we send Wilde-san?

[ for some reason, ochako doesn't seem to trust rufus to pick nice flower combinations? ]

[misstrust]

... I'll do the ice sculpture, unless Rufus prefers that and then I can get the flowers instead.

Rufus?

[ The power is yours. ]

[soulus]

[Unseen in her corner, the wolf continues to sulk.]

I will get the flowers.

[ hm. ]

We can switch if you don't want to, Wilde-san...?

[ she says this as she starts to cut a basic paper lantern shape... and goes wildly off course. what is this. it is definitely not a shape that will make a lantern? ]

...Or maybe we should just leave the paper decorations for later.

[misstrust]

Either you two are drunk and I am not, which is already a problem--

[ She gives the scissors a Look. ]

Or there's something off with the scissors.

[soulus]

[As soon as Dorothy finishes speaking, the wolf stops sulking and pads out from her spot to trail after Rufus, who turns away from Dorothy and Ochako.]

I will pick the flowers while you resolve the matter of the scissors. Please remember that there is the ice sculpture as well.

[infreefall]

Okay. Pinks and purples, like Dorothy-san said! Maybe some white ones, too!

[ looking back at the scissors with a frown. ]

Maybe you should try? If it's going wrong for all three of us, we know it's just the scissors.

[misstrust]

Got it.

[ And she spares a grin at the wolf before she picks up the scissors. ]

Then maybe give the ice sculpture a go and--

[ The scissors are assholes. Which isn't to say that Dorothy doesn't try fighting them at every turn, even if instead of getting more annoyed, her gaze is turning more thoughtful.

From the way the miniature horse nearby stomps a foot, though, she's at least mildly irritated. ]

... All right, I'm going to try something.

[soulus]

[Rufus heads outside and makes a beeline for the gardens. Pinks and purples, they said. What about blue? No, it's best to just follow the instructions. He approaches the nearest bush of soft pink flowers.]

[infreefall]

[ follow your heart, rufus. ]

Hm, what do they usually do for ice sculptures, anyway? Swans and stuff...? - Oh! What if we try to do something for the leaders?

[ where are they even getting the ice to carve ]

[misstrust]

[ LOOK, ICE PROBABLY COUNTS AS AN ART SUPPLY-- ]

Maybe you could try to aim for a rabbit? We probably shouldn't get too ambitious...

[ As she works at cutting... by apparently just giving up and cutting with no rhyme or reason.

Ironically, it actually seems to be coming together?? ]

[soulus]

[He follows the aroma of flowers, whereupon he slows to a stop in time for a sneeze into his shoulder. The wolf sneezes with him. Wordlessly, they look at each other.]

[ the ice is just sitting there melting while they debate this, and because ochako isn't sure how to carve a rabbit (she is not an artist?), she's just curiously watching dorothy instead while she pokes at the ice with a chisel that is now here. ]

Are you going to try to do a collage sort of thing?

[misstrust]

[ Sure hope Rufus isn't dying out there in the garden-- ]

I'm not trying to do anything... is the point, I think.

[ It's fine, it will look like Something. At least it doesn't look like the paper threw up its nonexistent insides, like the pile of failed attempts off to her left. ]

[soulus]

[It was just a sneeze.

Rufus picks a cluster of pink flowers before moving to the nearest purple patch. Mid stride, he sneezes—as does the wolf—and looks down at the flowers with suspicion.]

Hmm... Maybe that's true for all of it. Maybe we just have to go for it.

[ so she starts chipping at the ice. there is no shape to it yet, but now there are ice shards on the floor. making decorations is so messy? ]

[misstrust]

[ THEY'RE DOING GREAT. Shreds of paper, ice shards, the lot of it.

Rufus is faring better. Probably. ]

Exactly! [ With a laugh. ] If nothing else, we will have succeeded in making decorations, just... in our own way.

[soulus]

[Rufus sets the flowers down on the nearest surface—another bush—and picks the purple batch. This time, he frowns before losing to the bodily compulsion for another sneeze. A low growl rumbles in the wolf's throat.]

Yeah! We're getting creative! And there's no rules saying what the decorations have to be, anyway.
