WEEK FIVE: MINGLE

WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward.

Probably not. Maybe someone enjoyed all the intrusion last week though? [ who knows what people are in to.

alex is absolutely letting the crow have more fuss. she's very smart and deserves the attention. ]

Although I guess most of us are happier watching from the sidelines at these kind of things. It's still nice though.

[robopriest]

[He shakes his head - the crow closes her eyes, looking like she's going to sleep, she looks so relaxed.]

Aw, why don't you want to be in the front? People deserve to look at you!

[chanteuser]

[ hmm. ]

I think I'm one of those happy on the sidelines, for the most part. I'm not sure the cape part of this is completely practical.

[robopriest]

Ah, well. Practical doesn't matter. You look nice.

[And he steps forward, grinning wide. His hand moves to tuck a bit of her hair behind an ear.]

Also, you being on the sidelines means I have you all to myself, then. Lucky me, huh?

[chanteuser]

[ she leans into the hand automatically, with a smile. ]

Thanks. You cleaned up nicely yourself.

[ the realm out there doing everyone a solid, for once. ]

I guess so. Although I think the competition is slim, so you don't have to worry.

[robopriest]

Haha. Well, I don't feel like being this fancy is going to be a usual thing, but I appreciate you thinking I look good.

[He draws his hand back, only to let it drift to her shoulder.]

Want to dance, Alex? We don't have to go out in front of everyone. We can just do it here.

[chanteuser]

[ um. well. ]

I'm not sure I know how to dance?

[ at least his feet aren't going to hurt if she steps on them? ]

Just as a fair warning.

[robopriest]

Haha, me neither.

[Says Hansa, who is inviting people to dance. Look, he's just here to have fun. Life is good.]

I guess we can try together, right?

[chanteuser]

[ welp. ]

As long as no one's going to mark us out of ten, then... sure. Let's give it a try.

[robopriest]

Trust me, you're a twenty out of ten compared to my one out of ten.

[And he's sliding a hand around her waist, taking her hand with the other.]

Let's give it a go.

[And he'll just try to lead her slowly into the dance. He's a bit slow, and its awkward for him, but...he is smiling the whole time.]

[chanteuser]

[ she pokes him in the centre of the forehead, before he can get a proper grip on her hand. ]

With the outfit you are significantly higher than one out of ten, Hansa.

[ she has, literally, no idea what she's doing. but it's fine? she just follows his lead, one hand in his and the other on his shoulder, stepping in time with his movements and the sound of music.

she looks pretty happy as well, honestly. ]

[robopriest]

This outfit is not going to make me dance better, Alex.

[He says, with a laugh to the poke to his forehead, and then another laugh as they move along. He really doesn't want to step on her toes, but even so, he's as relaxed as he can be, having fun.]

I wonder if we'll get to do something like this again.

[chanteuser]

You can’t say I’m going to be a twenty out of ten when I just said I don’t know how to dance, then!

[ hmmm ]

I don’t know. It feels almost a little ominous, when I think about it. [ something this good, with so few downsides to it? it’s almost too much to hope. ]

But we should enjoy it while it’s here, right?

[robopriest]

Oh, I don't care about you not being able to dance. I was just saying you're twenty out of ten in general.

[Hansa, please.]

Hey, don't get yourself down...I mean, its not good to wait for the other shoe to drop. Lets just live in the moment.

[chanteuser]

[ hansa ] Why is it dance scores for you and in general for me?

[ ... ]

I know. We all agreed not to waste or worry about time, right? I’m trying not to think too negatively about it.

[robopriest]

Haha, because I can decide the rules like that. Its just how I roll.

[closes eyes]

Exactly. Which is why I just want you to have fun. Smile! Laugh! Just enjoy yourself. Things like these don't come that often.

[chanteuser]

she pinches his nose. but only once, letting go pretty quickly. ]

That sounds like a double standard to me.

Smile, laugh, try really hard not to step on your feet —- [ she’s doing her best on that last one so far and avoiding that and she seems genuinely pleased with herself. ]

But yeah. Compared to previous week and what happened then... this is much more light-hearted.

[robopriest]

It's a very true double standard.

[And though he chuckles, the look he gives her is warm and fond.]

It is. And I think its a blessing in and of itself if only for the fact that I get to dance with you.

[chanteuser]

[ unfair. ]

Or “shuffle in a corner”, which might be a little more accurate. [ still. she squeezes their held hands. ]

It’s nice though. This—- [ and then she sort of motions around in general with a little nod of her head ] All of this. It just feels a little more normal.

Even if we did have to put it together ourselves.

[robopriest]

Shuffling is still dancing. I won't take no for an answer.

[And a light shrug at that, his hand on her waist shifting slightly to get a better hold on her.]

We did a lot of hard work, and it paid off. Its a celebration for that, too.

[chanteuser]

Alright, alright. [ it’s their new form of dancing. maybe it will catch on. ]

Not just today either. [ it’s been a very tired few weeks, really. but it hasn’t all been bad. she leans forward and bumps her forehead against his shoulder, just for a moment before she straightens up again. ]

It feels longer than six weeks, don’t you think?

[robopriest]

[He pauses for a moment as she rests her head against his shoulder, looking at her with some concern - but he smirks a bit at her question.]

You're asking that to a man who lived for ten years in another world?

[And a beat.]

But honestly, yeah. Even that went by quickly. This just seems like we've been here for a long time.

[chanteuser]

[ god ]

Right. This place really went after you, time wise, huh?

[ ten years and six weeks. she could barely believe the six weeks part. ]

Some parts have been alright. But... [ not the obviously Bad partd ]

... mm. Well. If it was all bad we’d have all given up a while back, right?

[robopriest]

I'm just your local time magnet over here.

[And he leans in, bumping his forehead against hers, lightly.]

Maybe. But its because we have each other that we managed to pull through. I believe in that.

[chanteuser]

Mm.

[ she smiles, and leans into the forehead bump a little ]

I don’t disagree with that. I’m not sure how many times I can get away with saying thank you though, before the words lose importance.
