WEEK FIVE: MINGLE

WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward.

Nah. I've been checking them and they aren't really helpful. Have you ever noticed that they're all about the same size though? There's always some kind of barrier we can't cross.

No idea. When the port was here, Clementine and I went sailing and we crashed right into an invisible boundary. Like the memory of this place itself wasn't ever completed or regained.

Maybe...something like that? [walking ahead, he marks off another tree.]

...maybe they were maps of other places we might end up, then?

[reconnective]

It's definitely a thought. I kinda wish I'd thought to grab some of them or make a copy or something.

[dawnblushed]

Well... if we find any more maps, let's copy them down!

[reconnective]

Sure! [and i'm going to say they're at the fairy circle that sora doesn't realize is a fairy circle yet, stopping them and checking the area.] How about here?

[dawnblushed]

[yona doesn't know what a fairy circle is, so: ]

This works. We can use it as a ring, see? If one of us steps outside of it, we lose.

Good idea! Maybe other people thought the same thing once? The ring's pretty even.

[but he bounds over to one side and immediately draws his sword to slip into a battle stance.] Ready when you are.

That might be why it's here.

[anyway! she readies her sword, and once she's in the ring...

she just launches herself right at him. FIGHT.]

[yona launches! and sora immediately brings his sword up to block, stopping her and bounding back to try and swing into a counterattack! this is already going well.]

[dawnblushed]

[there's the clank of steel on steel when he blocks, and when he bounds back, she shifts into a defensive position as well -

though, for yona, "defense" really means "bring her sword up defensively while lunging forward to meet the strike head-on". the best defense is a good offense, as they say!]

[glad that fighting yona is basically the same as fighting roxas which means that her sword smacks into his and forces him to dodge out of the way, bringing his sword up to come in for another strike. i truly hope they actually don't stab each other, good job kids.]

[dawnblushed]

[if not for the fact that we'd have to retcon corpse checks and strip checks i would absolutely let them both get stabbed. alas, since we're backtagging, they're free of that for now.

yona, who doesn't yet realize that they're going to be stuck inside this ring, laughs delightedly as she blocks the strike.]

You're really good at this, Sora!

[reconnective]

[someday i'll stab you, i promise. he slides back a little once she blocks, giving her a wide grin as he adjusts the grip on his sword.]

Thanks! So're you. I never would've guessed you haven't been doing this for that long.

[dawnblushed]

[she readjusts her hold, too, and watches him carefully for another opportunity to strike.]

Sometimes you don't have any choice but to learn as fast as possible.

[reconnective]

[it's fine, he's going to circle a bit while planning his next move.]

Yeah, but there's still a difference between learning and being able to do it right. [he's pleased! and it means he's launching in for an overhead strike.]

[dawnblushed]

[now they're just circling each other. like vultures.]

Well, when your life is on the—

[and he strikes! yona's gaze flicks upward, and she turns the flat of her blade out to catch it, bending at the knee as she does so that she can push off from the ground with more momentum to try to push him back.]

[reconnective]

[he doesn't let her finish and instead she hits back, blocking the strike and forcing him backwards on his feet again.]

Yeah. Trust me, I get it. I had to learn as I went, too.

[dawnblushed]

[Yona backs off, intending to get some distance so she has more momentum to lunge at him -

But then she's stopped by something before she can step out of the ring.]

...huh?

[reconnective]

[huh. he pauses in his own movements to give her an incredulous stare.]

What's wrong?

[dawnblushed]

...

[this time, she very deliberately tries to step out of the ring, and... is stuck. so she kicks at it, and her foot is stopped midair.]

Something's wrong.

[reconnective]

Yeah, I can tell. [give him a second to turn and wave his hand over the ring before it gets stuck.] Uh...is it supposed to be doing that?

[dawnblushed]

I have no idea. I've never seen anything like this before.

[reconnective]

Me either. Is it...like a portal? [he will try to swipe his sword outside of the ring, too, to no avail.]
