WEEK SIX: MINGLE

WEEK SIX: MINGLE (25 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Elsa, Yona, Shigeo, and Fiora's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Also, anyone who had been poisoned during trial will still be feeling sick! Haha! Finally, participants will find that they are now sporting a new injury. This injury is one that they received in their past, whether they remember it or not. No matter how fatal the injury is, participants won't die from it, and the pain they feel will be dulled down. However, if another participant touches someone's injury effect, even if it's covered, then they will both be hit with whatever pain that was felt when the injury was first inflicted. This pain will last ten seconds. The injury can also be as minor or major as desired.

...looks like we're going right. [he shows off the tails side of the gold piece.] We can go left tonight.

We should try and get a flashlight for that.

[ or maybe they could just make a torch? anyway, right-cave it is for now! ]

Yeah. And if that doesn't work, Riku and I have made torches before. It's been a while, but I think I remember how.

[into the right cave! this one is probably full of bats, but they can walk quietly and not disturb them.] ...there was this cave on our island that was carved into the cliffside past this waterfall. We called it the secret place because the path was narrow and wound around, but it opened to a big cave in the center. We used to think monsters lived in there, but after a while we went exploring and started drawing on the walls and stuff. There're other caves, too, that lead from one side of the play island to the other.

[stillnot]

[ she laughs but - quietly. bats... ] Don't worry. If this place took how to make torches from you, I still know how.

[ and she listens to him with interest. ]

Huh. That sounds like a place that would be really fun as a kid. [ because when you're little the world feels big and mysterious and safe. ] There was a cave near the... [ the ░░░░░░░░░? what was the ░░░░░░░░░?

but she doesn't really know where that sentence was going so she just trails off awkwardly. ]

[yeah i'm not giving them a nice cave for this, they can have cool rocks and bats.] Good. We have a plan then.

[walking, walking...]

It was. We didn't have a lot of things like big stores or anything back there, so we made up our own stories and games and stuff all the time. [he seems to get that he just accidentally stumbled on something she forgot though, and while there's a moment's pause he bypasses it immediately.]

...ever find anything interesting in that cave?

[stillnot]

No fair. All I had to explore was the back yard.

[ not quite as thrilling of an adventure. anyway she picks up from his question easily. ]

That rock I told you about. And a dumb toy from a kid's show I used to watch. ... And a crazy guy.

[reconnective]

[he grins because he's well-aware it's not fair. they were a little spoiled with that island back then.]

One of these things is unlike the other, Clem. [lightly. but bad.] You got out of there okay?

[stillnot]

Yeah, it was... Fine. He tried to take AJ from me, but - left us alone. [ ie she didn't have to kill him herself. ]

Then we got out of the cave and met up with Violet. [ before heading back to ░░░░░░░░░. ]

[reconnective]

Good. [he. has learned clem speak. a bat squeaks and swoops over his head, causing him to duck slightly.]

[ she startles, but. it's fine, she's just jumpy. ]

Girl from the group of kids I met pretty recently. She's cool. Kind of the leader of them, uh, now.

[reconnective]

...after Marlon? [he pays attention.]

[stillnot]

[ she's kind of surprised he remembers, honestly. ]

... Yeah.

[ she opens her mouth like there's more she wants to tell him, but then just... can't remember what it was. something about violet and ░░░░░░░░░. ]

[reconnective]

[hm. he's also starting to notice that he keeps stumbling across stuff she doesn't remember. so he sort of smiles instead and nods along.]

Sounds impressive. [he looks at the ground as they walk.] ...a lot of the rocks here are pretty smooth. Might be able to find some sea glass, too, if we look.

[stillnot]

[ it's mostly the same thing over and over - the same blank space in her memory that she keeps coming to whenever she turns around.

anyway, she's trying to shake it off. ]

That the kind of thing you'd find in your cave, back home?

[reconnective]

[time to run fullspeed straight into terrible coping methods of avoidance.]

We mostly found stones that we could use for building stuff, but Kairi always had better luck finding seashells and sea glass to use for whatever she was making. [like the charm he has that he absolutely does not realize is kairi's.] There were these really pretty ones. Thalassa shells? Kairi said they were meant to ensure safe journeys, but that might've just been an old story.

[further into the cave they go. he seems to specifically be looking for any interesting rocks or the like at this point, having abandoned the idea of a secret beach.] We also had a bunch of mushrooms growing in different caves.

[ for someone who's supposed to be looking for rocks, she's doing a very bad job of it. mostly she's just alternating between looking at sora and checking on the bat situation. ]

I don't know if it was just an old story. Seems pretty appropriate with how much you travel, right? Like a... Good omen?

[any time she checks on sora he seems to be lost in his own thoughts and checking for things, so that's fun.]

Yeah. She was making a necklace out of those shells for when we were gonna take the raft out. I don't think she ever thought we'd be separated the way we were, but she said it's what sailors wore so it makes some sense.

[stillnot]

[ cool cool cool this is fine. ]

... Well. Next time you see her, ask her to make me one too, okay?

[ she says it lightly, but it's: you're going to see her again and you're going to see me again. ]

Yeah. You could always ask her yourself if you want. I think you guys would get along.

[somehow the implication went from sora seeing both of them at all to sora seeing both of them at the same time.]

Sure. That sounds nice.

I'd like to meet any of your friends.

[ except donald and goofy but mostly because she'd have an aneurysm. keep your disney animals away from her. ]

[no his dads!!!

but it's fine. he seems to relax with that.]

Then...when we figure things out and when things are okay again, you and AJ can come visit us. We can use the...[...hm. uh...well. whatever.] We have ways of traveling to different places, so we can go anywhere you want.

[ she'll never know if he forgets things or if he doesn't say them because he knows she'll think they sound dumb. ]

I'd like to see your island. I bet AJ would love it, too.

[ after all, it sounds like a good place for kids. ]

[haha. it's probably fine.]

Yeah. The ocean's right there for swimming, plus we have our boats and the treehouse...you guys could actually see all the stars in the world there. [it's a nice daydream and a goal, at least.]

Sounds like a dream.

[ a bigger dream than she usually lets herself have. but that's not a rejection of it, this time. ]

Dreams are nice though. [a reminder...but he pauses and stops to scoop up a flat, smooth reddish stone.]
