WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE

WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE (21 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. As usual, the participants will find that their lodgings have changed, and should anyone check their PHS, Chiron, Ochako, Soo-won, and Dorothy's profiles have been removed. They may also find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Not everything is the same as the previous pattern, though. The barrier to the north is back up, and once more, what lies beyond is an empty field. In contrast, however, participants may notice that they can finally access a place they haven't been able to before... Additionally, it looks like the Leaders aren't around. No matter where the participants look, they're nowhere to be found. Should anyone try calling for them in the Planetarium, there will be no response—not even a message telling the participant that they're busy. Finally, everything around the participants begins to... glitch? Buildings may suddenly blink out of existence and then back in, random items like chairs or cups may suddenly distort even while they're being used, and looking at any particular thing for too long may give someone a headache. It's worse than it was that one week, though: participants will find that it's happening to themselves as well. Body parts might suddenly glitch out of existence then back in, and there will be a shot of pain when it occurs. It'll happen randomly, but it also seems to occur more often if they're touching something or another person.

Of course we're okay! I think we were more worried about you guys getting back in one piece. Everybody's here and safe?

[She quickly glances around to do a head count, and then she nods.]

Yes! Honestly, it was a little difficult... But we made it!

[reconnective]

Good. I was hoping you were right with your last letter. [about seeing them again soon.] And you remember everything? Looks like you healed up pretty okay.

Oh! So you got it! [Censors aside...] All my memories are back, and— if you mean last week, we experienced the same strange effects as you.

[reconnective]

Yeah! Well, that and...you know. Everything from that week. [sumi has her head and he's so fucking grateful for that.] Some of your letters didn't make sense to me, but I think I understood most of what you were trying to tell us. I can't thank you enough for that.

[siblingless]

[Sometimes, you just lose your head. It's fine.]

... I'm glad. I was sure the majority of them wouldn't make it through, but it's a relief to know they were of some use. [A little sad.] Though, you don't have to thank me. We promised to work together, didn't we?

[reconnective]

You helped us out a lot more than you might think. Between your messages to me and to Taako? We figured stuff out.

[...but there's a soft affirmative sound.] We did promise that though, you're right. I'm just glad we were both able to keep that promise to each other.

... Me, too. We're really lucky we were able to communicate with each other despite the, ah, circumstances.

["Circumstances" sure is a way to say "death."]

Yeah, that's definitely not something I was expecting. It took some of us a little longer to gain that ability but you guys were able to do it right away, weren't you?

[She nods.]

Yes! I was surprised by it, but it made sense once I spoke to the others and we realized only some teams had unlocked the ability to write back.

[reconnective]

Can you believe it's been two months and we still don't really know how nova's earned? I still don't get how each team earned more than others...besides the obvious.

[siblingless]

Right? I don't think even the leaders know the exact details. All I know was what I was able to learn through Wolf-san and Swan-san.

[reconnective]

They were both trying their best. All of them were. I think Cloud ended up learning the most because of how long he held first place, but every time I asked it was never a clear answer. Maybe there really never was one to begin with.

[siblingless]

Maybe not. Though... I wonder how important it was to know in the long run? If all our memories are back, it may mean we don't have to worry about gathering nova anymore. We just have to solve one last problem.

[reconnective]

That virus thing...which was supposedly eating our nova, or I guess deleting our memories? It's hard to say now. We still don't really know how to solve it though, huh?

[siblingless]

[A shake of her head.]

We received some messages asking for more details, but... I think we know just as much as you do.

[reconnective]

Tomorrow's gonna be really interesting for all of us then. We should focus on getting some rest and stuff tonight so we can be ready for whatever's next.
