WEEK ZERO: ARRIVAL (OVERFLOW)
WEEK ZERO: ARRIVAL (43 remain) Whatever each character was doing—chatting with friends, going to bed, saving the world—ceases. In fact, it's likely nothing more than a groggy memory now, as they open their eyes to unfamiliar surroundings. Apparently, they took a nap right in the middle of a small town, plopped outside on the paved road. Ow? Oh, but it looks like they've been given a goodie bag. Everyone likes gifts, right? Inside, it contains:
- packets of tea - one unlabeled pill - a rock that resembles the galaxy - if they're of age, a mini bottle of alcohol; if they're underage, a can of Mountain D*w Baja Blast instead - a singular condom - a single random one of these pillows (how did this fit?) - a handheld device Should they boot up the device, the screen helpfully informs them that it's a Participant Help System (PHS). Not much on it, but it does have a few apps, including a memo one for taking notes. There's also a messaging system, though it's only capable of receiving messages, not sending any. As a matter of fact, there's an alert for a new message already. Maybe it'll explain what's going on. Good evening, everyone. Uh, how are we sure theyāre arriving in the evening? Just say āhelloā! Or āgreetingsā! Greetings is fancy, right? Oh thatās true. Greetings, everyone. Thatās better? Yes! Except maybe we take out the thatās better part in the final version. Will do! Er, what? Unfortunately, it seems as though that's the only info they're given for now. In the meantime, why not explore the surrounding area? A number of buildings are locked, and the Planetarium appears to be closed, but there's enough to keep the characters occupied for a day or two. They might even want to get to know their fellow "participants" better, while they're at it. |

Yeah, I thought so. Homs are just the name for people like you and me - walks on two legs, no wings, all that. I think I heard someone else say you call us "humans" here?
[ elves are now included as homs. ]
no subject
"Humans" is as new to me, as well, but I do believe it clears up some of my confusion nevertheless.
no subject
[ she's still confused. it's a constant state of confusion here. ]

Got it. Don't worry - if anything's fishy, I'll take care of it.
[ she would have gone in first, anyway, since he looks pretty young! Gotta protect the kids. Of course, there's nothing particularly threatening in the immediate vicinity, flashing lights aside, and her attention is drawn first by the crane game filled to the brim with stuffed ponies and minions. ]
Oh! Look at this.
no subject
What is it? Toys...? I don't understand how you're supposed to take them out, though.
no subject
Me neither.
[ she could smash the glass with her robot fist but that feels like stealing and also definitely isn't the intended way to obtain the toys. Rubbing her chin, she looks at the interface, where there's a big blinking button with "PRESS HERE TO BEGIN" written above it in fun text. ]
Maybe it's a puzzle? It says to push the button.

[ a smile. yes, her friends are probably worried, too - but she's hoping they're moving forward even without her. ]
Don't worry. I'm sure we'll find a way back soon.
no subject
[But it sure is nice that everyone else is so optimistic, too.]
I could help you find something for him, maybe?
no subject
You want to? His name's Dunban.
[ maybe they can just find something with his name on it. it's easier than trying to determine what kind of tchotchke her aloof warrior-poet brother would like... ]

You don't know what the Bionis is?! But we live on it!
no subject
Oh. Huh. Yeah, I get it. The Bionis has always been moving, though? Like, making those li'l spins and twirls all over the place all the time?

-- I'm Fiora, by the way! Thanks for helping me.
no subject
I'm Sora! And don't mention it! I hope your stuff's still there. [and if it's not then they can think of a backup plan. it's fine.]

I'm not joking, I swear - I could say the same thing to you! But what does this mean...?
[ her mind is racing, trying to find an explanation. Severe amnesia? That doesn't really happen, does it? ]
no subject
[don't expect too much from her.]
I believe you, I truly do. [someone telling lies wouldn't look so certain, she thinks.] But we both remember very different things.

I get that a lot. [ a beat; she touches the edge of her headguard, concerned, but continues. ] It's hard to explain, but most of my body is a machine. Radar's usually one of the perks, but... that fall must have been worse than I thought.

[ but she does seem amused by it. He is pretty small - he's probably just a kid, even if he's drinking coffee, for some reason. She'll play along and babysit!! With the bag in one hand, she holds out her other arm for him to scamper onto her shoulder - or let her hold him against her chest. Whatever works!! ]
Come on, let's go.

Well, it was a... unique situation. [ a beat; then she gives an apologetic smile. ] Sorry, that was a pretty strange thing to lead with, wasn't it? All the stress is getting to me. I keep hoping I'll say something that'll make everything click for someone...

Guess we're two peas in a pod, then. Don't worry about it.
[ it's less that he specifically offended her and more that she was reminded that she's kind of a freak. luckily, fiora is really good at bottling that up... ]
But what are you going to do? Maybe we can sort of clear out one of the rooms on the first floor for you.
