WEEK TWO: TRIAL

WEEK TWO: TRIAL
(35 remain)

Rise and shine, gremlins. Hopefully you found it in you to make and eat breakfast, despite yesterday's news. At 11am, everyone will receive a message on their PHS, simply stating:
This is your reminder to be at the Emporium by 12 PM.

Shortly before 12pm, every participant will feel compelled to move towards the Emporium, if they aren't already there. No exceptions! Though they will have to navigate around shelves and merchandise and the like, everyone will fit neatly inside the room. Once all the participants are present and the clock strikes twelve, the doors lock behind them.

Three of the Leaders are there with them: Wolf, Rabbit, and Fox. Fox speaks.

"... Third time isn't the charm, as it turns out. You have nine hours. We'll help with what we can, as before."

༶•┈┈⛧┈。o°✥✣ ✣✥°o。┈⛧┈┈•༶

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial! For the next nine hours, the characters are expected to discuss among themselves, ask questions, examine the bodies of the victims, look over the evidence found yesterday, and revisit locations as needed in order to find the culprit(s). There'll be a one hour break from 5-6pm EST, where no mod tags will occur.

Before the trial is over, please remember to place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

If you have any questions at any time, please let us know by pinging us on Discord!

Evidence appeared to have been disposed of within the swamp. A trail of footprints led to and from the water, and within it we found a strange outfit and a... well, I cannot truly call it a spear. A steak knife tied to a stick. Along the way we also located a pair of bloodied gloves.

I believe Izumo claimed they fit her, and the measurements of the prints have been compared to both of these two. [he nods to her and vezda.]

Izumo told me about this last night. I kinda wonder if the stick you found was the handle to the broom we found in the tailor's. It'd at least link two of the locations together.

It may well be. It should be here for comparison, if you are so inclined.

May as well get it out of the way, sure.

[AND HE'S BACK.]

Took a look at the spear. Definitely looks like the broom handle was used as the spear's handle itself, but it wasn't broken off or anything? So they took their time disassembling it. And the rope holding it together probably came from the ship.

So that links at least three of our locations together, right?

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So it does. If only the rope is linked to the ship thus far, however, I would still view the two incidents separately-- they could have taken it and left easily enough.

[personal profile] reconnective 2020-10-17 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We'll have to see which of the bodies has spear wounds, if any. That'll give us an idea of where to go next.
frostythehitman: (are you sure about that sonny)

[personal profile] frostythehitman 2020-10-17 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
There was also a weird mask that we found floating in the water along with the bloody outfit.

[ is he still salty that emet-selch refused to do any of the hard work?

Maybe so. ]

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
So there was, yes. I believe that should clarify what happened to the one missing from the shop.
frostythehitman: (fine but I WON'T LIKE IT)

[personal profile] frostythehitman 2020-10-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. So then we know that the killer went to the tailor's first. Makes sense--they'd want to hide their face.
arkitect: (14)

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is interesting, given that the rest of us are unconscious at the time. An abundance of caution?
frostythehitman: (looking angrily off into the distance)

[personal profile] frostythehitman 2020-10-17 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
We know the victims are awake, because they usually struggle. Maybe they weren't confident they'd pull off the kill and wanted the insurance that if they survived, they wouldn't be able to say who tried to kill them.

Oh! So that's where the shit went. Right into the mud.
frostythehitman: (confused but kinda smug about it)

[personal profile] frostythehitman 2020-10-17 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
What shit? The mask, or the outfit?
uhhhmagic: (fire shield;)

[personal profile] uhhhmagic 2020-10-17 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Both? They were part of a set I think.

recrowns: (➸ will you hold the line)

[personal profile] recrowns 2020-10-17 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
.... did someone improvise a spear? I'd almost call that impressive. What was it tied with?

The bloodied pair of gloves is a bit more of an interesting find - we should see who could conceivably wear them, and whether there's any signs of strain to suggest that the fit wasn't good.
arkitect: (25)

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It was simply tied with rope. But given the apparent number of gloves that were found, if you intend to pursue that, do it sooner rather than later. Any results may take time to sift through.

[a slight hum, and:]

The prints as well, really. Anyone striking out into a swamp should have known they would leave such a trail and accounted for it-- there appeared to be no attempt to obscure them.

[it's worth considering that direct results won't be the best ones.]
recrowns: (➸ it's not enough)

[personal profile] recrowns 2020-10-17 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[he nods at that]

Then I believe we should move forward with both a hand check and a footprint check. If we're to generate suspects, it would be easier to create them early and then remove them.

We do need to discern which items of evidence belong to which murder as well.

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Best to get on with it, then, if we'd like to avoid a repeat of the last time.

... We found a set of footprints on the boat as well. If they're still there, we ought to compare them.
arkitect: (4)

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It would not be a poor idea, I believe. Did you take note of their size while there?
siblingless: (004)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-17 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[A shake of her head.]

No... I'm sorry. After we found Brick-san's body, we didn't think to examine anything else.

[personal profile] arkitect 2020-10-17 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

[well! before boat crew leaves then, they'll get called out to:]

Ensure you get the size of any footprints there, if you would!
