WEEK FIVE: MINGLE

WEEK FIVE: MINGLE (29 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Alyssa, Hikaru, and Bucky's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. On that note, if your character did not stay, please make sure to check your notifs. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Finally, participants will find that they now have another pet to take care of. Small creatures (based on any animal of player choice, real or mythical) will be following them around all week. However, these creatures are emotionally tied to their participant, so whatever the person they are connected to is feeling, they will outwardly display it. Angry? They will be hostile. Happy? So are they! Even more, they will react to other participants based on how theirs feels about the other. Anyone their participant loves, they will also love. Hope you don't secretly hate anyone, that might be awkward.

[Whelp.

'round a particular corner of the maze, Blanca and his good doggie will run into a small deer, surprisingly well-behaved and not at all prone to spooking. It will in fact give the dog a slight sniff and then leap up and down a few times on her nimble limbs before trying to direct their attention to... somewhere. Hm]

[papasha]

[OH! Baby!!!

He and the dog both pause. Luckily, the dog is a nice boy, and he simply sniffs back, still, except for the excited and curious tail wagging behind.

???

What is this little thing trying to show them? He will follow it? Or, like, look where it's indicating.]

...Hello?

[It's fiiiiiine. They won't even have long to follow.

Chiron's chillin' in a corner of the maze, one of the dead-ends, seated on the ground with his back propped up against the hedge. His eyes draw up at the sight of Blanca, and he will offer him a nod]

Hello.

[The deer trots up, nudging Chiron in the cheek until he pets her, though he has to place down a roll of bandages to do so]

To think she found someone so quickly.

[papasha]

[Ah, Chiron.] Hello. [A bit of a smile comes to his face. The dog perks to attention and hurries over to Chiron, tail wagging in greeting. He sits and raises a paw at Chiron, trying to offer it.

Handshake!]

She's quite cute, I must say. What are you up to? Get lost in the maze?

[antaressnipe]

[What the hell that's adorable? Chiron has had very little interaction with dogs, he thinks, but he brightens upon that offered paw. Yes, he will shake it.]

As is yours.

[Chuckling]

Well, mine was overrun with curiosity and I foolishly gave chase so she wouldn't hurt herself... and had a slight tumble as a result.

[Gesturing to one of his front legs. The "ankle" is rather swollen, it seems.]

[papasha]

[The dog is very polite! Naturally.

But hm. A little sliver of him does not like that. He approaches Chiron to kneel down near the front leg. He doesn't touch, but he does look it over with a small frown.]

Would you like me to help you wrap it? Have you been having any trouble walking? Before, I mean.

[antaressnipe]

No, I have not had trouble. My thoughts have only been distracted.

[As for the question of bandages, Chiron hands all of them. to Blanca. There ya go, buddy. Help as much as you like.]

[papasha]

Mm.

[He takes the bandages so he can unravel them. The dog again raises a paw, but this time sort of places it on Chiron's arm as if saying "it's okay."]

Are they distracted by anything in particular? Aside from the usual, of course.

[Like murder and stuff.

He carefully starts wrapping Chiron's leg to make it more stabilized.]

[antaressnipe]

[The dog is offered another smile and a pat on the head, warm and friendly, while both he and the deer watch his leg being wrapped in vague curiosity]

I suppose whatever has been lost...

[Mm]

But I thank you, friend, for the assistance. I did not hope to be stuck here for a half hour.

[papasha]

It's frustrating to not know, isn't it? I don't blame you.

[He... tears a little piece of bandage off and pauses to playfully drape it over the little deer's nose. Hehe.

And then he continues bandaging Chiron's leg.]

Here's hoping I will have the strength to be able to help you stand up. You shouldn't put any pressure on it for a good while.

[antaressnipe]

[... Immediately frowning in disapproval at the idea of Blanca helping him up. That is. a lot of weight to be shouldering.

Also the deer's nose gives a wiggle at that boop, and then a sneeze. Sir.]

I would not want you to injure yourself, Blanca.

[papasha]

I think I can manage. I really can't just leave you sitting out here while I run down Hansa.

[He glances at the deer with a small smile.] Bless you. [And then finishes tying off the end of the bandage. It should be stiff enough to offer support without killing circulation.]

[Mmmmmm... exchanging a Look with his deer at the mention of Hansa. His fellow jock would probably have a few things to say about this, so...]

Alright. We shall try... but I again insist you not overexert yourself. I will manage if necessary.

[Time to see if he can stand, then! He'll--

He'll pause for a moment]

The back legs first then? [Squinting at Blanca's legs. But he's only got two, so...]

[marie, i'm going to fucking kill you]

You worry too much, Archer.

[Blanca rises from his kneel, and the dog makes room for Chiron. He... watches. Jesus. Yes, he only has two legs. For a moment, he stands there with his hands on his hips, looking at the sky. He's so tired.

And then he relaxes, peering back at Chiron.]

Back legs first. Give me your arms. [He holds out his hands so Chiron can take them.] Are you not use to working with four?

[antaressnipe]

[he he he he he...

And Chiron will comply! Still with a dubious glance, this doesn't feel right, but his leg was injured and he knows better than to make a further mess of himself.

Thankfully it seems that once he starts moving, whatever part of his brain in charge of repetitive movements handles the rest. He stands easily, though there's a wince when he accidentally puts a bit too much weight through that swollen ankle]

... Perhaps? It is hard to tell. Though I've noticed that no one else... looks as I do...

[papasha]

I see.

[HE'S SO TIRED. WHY. Also, centaurs are fucking heavy?! Sheesh. Horse butt weight.

Gently, he taps the thigh of the front leg to make Chiron keep off it.]

We don't, do we? Did you... forget you are a centaur?

[antaressnipe]

... A what?

[And fine, he'll lift up that leg for now, able to balance somewhat between the other three. It's not comfortable but he will manage]

I am a...

[A squint. A pause.

He gestures at himself]

I suppose whatever this is.

[papasha]

[Well, that explains most of it.]

That's okay. Just be careful, yes? You have four legs instead of two. [Hm. He glances to the deer, and then gestures to it.] You see her legs?

It's sort of like you, in a way.

[antaressnipe]

... Ah.

[Glancing at his deer then. And she gives a little encouraging jump on her legs, as if to go "see? four legs!"

... And then Chiron nods, and Blanca has two seconds to tell Chiron not to fuckin jump]

[papasha]

[He doesn't think anything of it, and then very suddenly realizes what Chiron will probably do.]

Whoa, no, no, no! [He throws his arms out to grab Chiron by the arms.] Hold on one second, Archer.

You sprained your-- [hoof?] --ankle, let's not get over-confident.

[antaressnipe]

[his deer is also giving him a look like "really, dad?" so Chiron is being shamed from two different directions, and sighs]

My apologies... I am not used to... [A squint]

I'm not used to a great many things, it seems.

[He shakes his head a little, but will stay put.]

Shall I follow after you, then?

[papasha]

[This is the worst thing that could have happened, MARIE.]

It's all right. Follow me, and I'll lead us out. Try not to put too much weight on that leg, okay?

[He will turn to lead, but, like, not get extremely far ahead because he doesn't trust Chiron not to fall. What's he going to do when it happens? He doesn't know, but he'll cross that bridge when he gets to it.]

[antaressnipe]

[I have done NOTHING WRONG IN MY LIFE!!!

Chiron will move slowly and gingerly at Blanca's request, and... ever see a horse limp? That's what he's doing. It is not exactly graceful but at least some part of him seems to have remembered how he's supposed to move, because he doesn't topple. At least not yet. Just redistribute his weight to keep upright.

All the while the deer will keep in step with him, encouraging.]

... I apologize for the trouble.

[papasha]

No need to apologize. It isn't any trouble.

[Both the dog and Blanca are hyper-focused on making sure Chiron doesn't go so fast there's a slip up, and also on navigating the maze.]

You weren't out here long, were you?

[antaressnipe]

A half hour, at most.

[So not too long, all things considered. Could have been worse]

I was more concerned this little one would get lost in the maze trying to find someone for me.

[Nodding at the deer who is still sticking to Chiron's side like glue]

... It seems we've all been gifted with companions, I take it?
