WEEK FIVE: INVESTIGATION (?? remain) On Friday morning at 7am, all the doors will unlock and the participants may traverse between areas again. Participants will find that, as they leave wherever they slept, everything feels... unclear? Did they see whoever they were with? They can no longer remember. Even for those who spent the night alone, they can feel that something is off. It doesn't seem as though the Leaders are around, but at this point, everyone should realize what has happened. Time to investigate. ༶•┈┈⛧┈｡o°✥✣ 　　 ✣✥°o｡┈⛧┈┈•༶ Welcome to your sixth investigation! We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6pm EST and another set at 7pm EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8pm and 9pm EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9pm EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s). [well. it's week five and he's alive, so he's walking alongside xie lian as they approach the inn. his movements are still a little slower, but he opens the door to see if there's anything immediately out of place in the lobby at a first glance.]

Do you think everybody listened to the rules last night?

[dianxias]

[ xie lian's taking it at sora's pace as they head inside of the plaza inn. ]

I don't know - I hope so. By now, I would hope that we've all learned to sleep in groups, at least...

[ but considering that this is an investigation spot we both know that probably didnt happen.

sora covered the first glance! what's the first sweep glance at the kitchen? ]

[ Nothing seems out of place in the lobby at a glance! There's the front desk, some couches, and the shrine, etc., all where they normally should be.

The kitchen seems mostly orderly... but it looks like there's something near Xie Lian's favourite spot, the trash can. ]

[reconnective]

[...you know. he will let xie lian return to his rightful place while he's going to go examine behind the front desk and make sure everything's in order just in case before he'll drift toward the stairs. nothing on the stairs or near the elevator either?]

Shout if you see anything, okay?

WHAT'S IN THE GARBAGE.

technically, what's near it, but also, what's in it. he'll climb in there if he's gotta don't test me UPDATE apparently he's wearing a pretty dress. wow. just another day in the life. he will still climb in the garbage if necessary though. ]

[ Nothing weird about the front desk! Or about the stairs or the elevator.

Inside the garbage is a burnt and bloody shawl and gloves, covered in ashes. And whatever other garbage people have been throwing in there all week, probably.

Hope Xie Lian isn't too determined in his trash quest, though, because by the trash bin is...... an ankylossaurus with its head chopped off. ]

[well since there's nothing...he will go to join xie lian! they can check the rest of the inn in a sec, but it's important to stick together!]

...whaaaaat are you doing in the trash...?

[dianxias]

[ he starts to call, too loudly - ]

Sora, I found -- oh. [ oh, sora's here. he comes out of the trash can in a fluff of fancy dress fabric; xie lian looks grim as he stoops down towards its tiny little dinosaur body. ]

...A dinosaur - it's the same one that I have... [ and then, suddenly, in realization. ] It's Miss Elsa's.

[ uh oh.

actually, is the shawl burnt beyond all recognition? or would it be recognized by someone who had seen it before... like the shawl elsa had, ] There's more things in the trash can as well - clothing that's been damaged. A shawl that's been burnt, and some gloves that are bloodied.

...We should keep looking. And... I'll get a cloth to wrap up the creature, so we can give it a proper burial instead of this.

[ are there any bloody fingerprints on the trash can lid? any dinosaur blood from dino murder? anything else weird in the kitchen? ]

[retellers]

[ No blood, and nothing else is off at a glance. ]

[reconnective]

[oh. that sure is a headless dinosaur, and sora looks at it before he. swoons? he nearly knocks into the trashcan but catches himself on the wall before looking annoyed. following behind him is the small meow wow creature that looks a little uncertain.

sora's going to look in the garbage, too.]

...I wonder if the clothing was hers, too. But the dinosaur...why put it here? [yikes!] Let's take it. It might be evidence but...if not, we can bury it.

We should check under the couches and stuff, and maybe upstairs. Do you know where Elsa was staying last night?

[dianxias]

--Sora?! [ he's immediately going to try and help, and just looks very confused?! his qilin is all poofed up, its feathers puffy as it starts trying to fuss at him immediately.

...right... ] I... um, no, I don't. Hopefully in the north with someone else...

[ okay. well. since sora seems fine, off we go!! he will return to grab the dinosaur when they're done exploring. ] ...I'll take the stairs.

[ and off he goes, picking up his dress skirts to go do a sweep of the stairs and up to the second floor while sora checks the couches. ]

[ Sora finds garbage in the garbage can. If he checks the couches, he finds nothing there either.

Xie Lian doesn't find anything on the stairs up to the second floor. ]

[reconnective]

I'm fine, I'm fine. [that was annoying. but...he nods and xie lian can take the stairs!

nothing with the couches? hm...okay. he will open the elevator door to make sure there's nothing inside before riding it up to the second floor. that's it, that's his contribution while xl takes the stairs. they can meet upstairs.]

[dianxias]

[ i keep fucking forgetting we have an elevator!!!

anyway, let's do a sweep around the second floor, and check near elsa's room, just in case. anything weird? also the ceiling. what's on the ceiling. ]

[ Well, Elsa's doorframe is splintered, and the door itself is off its hinges, so there's that.

There are also bloody footprints on the floor. Nothing on the ceiling, though! ]

[reconnective]

[UM. well it's not like it's hard to notice so...he will join xie lian by the door!]

Guess that answers where she stayed last night. [he glances at the footprints and then heads into the room.] Stick close.

[do the footprints like like they're entering or exiting the room though? also CAN they even go into the room? they're gonna try.]

[ so much for the curfew rule.

xie lian will indeed check his foot against the size of the footprints. bigger or smaller than his? for feetie check reference tmrw

and then, also, the damage on the doorframe. does it splinter outwards like something too big tried to go through it, or was the splintering from just the door coming off? is the phs reader/handle still attached or is that also really damaged? ]

Do you think the damage could be from the dinosaur...?

[ The footprints look like they start from a window and lead towards the section where the vacant rooms are before fading away.

From the door coming off, probably. The door itself is also splintered, though. The PHS reader is fine. On the other hand, the door is not attached to the doorframe anymore, they can go in... but you'll have to describe your exact movements if you do. ]

okay that's not at all alarming, but given that sora's taking a step into the room, he's checking first for anything attached to the door itself and the ceiling above it before he begins to walk toward the center.

and because i have gotten lazy describing it, sora does have his usual sword with him because sometimes that's just how your game model goes. what's the state of the rooms...?]

Maybe...? How big were those things supposed to get?

[ gee mom how come WE get footprints

i mean uh. xie lian will follow behind sora once he's done checking the feets and takes a step to the right, staying nearby but taking a couple steps towards the beds.... ]

I don't know...I haven't asked mine to get large, but I can tomorrow if it's necessary.

[ what's the damage. is there a dino in the middle of the room. ]

[ Belatedly, the footprints looked smaller than Xie Lian's feet.

A question: how exactly are they walking? Not in terms of where they're walking, but how?

In any case, the room is a mess! Furniture has been upturned and damaged. ]

[um??? sora's walking fairly normally, not exactly quickly but at a normal pace.]

We can probably guess everything started here. [hm. he'll keep walking to see if he can find anything hidden under some of the damaged furniture.]

[ THIS IS THE MOST CONCERNING QUESTION I'VE EVER BEEN ASKED

I think you're right. The question is only who and how.

[ what all has been upturned? all of it? is there random stuff open? is the fancy ass bed flipped? ]

[ Which furniture is Sora checking out?

Random furniture has been upturned, though the bed is not one of them. It's still upright. ]

Right. [every tag i grow more scared. uh. he'll check the table/chairs and also the wardrobes.]

Check under the bed and under the covers maybe? Fireplace, too. We can also check the bathroom just to make sure.
