WEEK SIX: MINGLE

WEEK SIX: MINGLE (25 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Elsa, Yona, Shigeo, and Fiora's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Once again, participants may find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Also, anyone who had been poisoned during trial will still be feeling sick! Haha! Finally, participants will find that they are now sporting a new injury. This injury is one that they received in their past, whether they remember it or not. No matter how fatal the injury is, participants won't die from it, and the pain they feel will be dulled down. However, if another participant touches someone's injury effect, even if it's covered, then they will both be hit with whatever pain that was felt when the injury was first inflicted. This pain will last ten seconds. The injury can also be as minor or major as desired.

Yeah, they do sometimes. And what are they supposed to do, starve while they're up there? C'mon, man, that's probably, like, torture or something. Don't be a torture stan.

[ The worker pauses, before they burst into laughter over what Rufus said. They are probably too high to stop Hua Cheng, so go right ahead. ]

anyway, xie lian is going to peer out of the entrance to where the roller coaster comes through. like how many people are on this screaming death car and are they all carrying food. is there an emergency ladder somewhere on this roller coaster in case it stops somewhere random or is it just that these people that will be gone tomorrow will die like men. ]

[ A glance back when the worker starts laughing, before he rolls his eye and goes to investigate the machinery. There's usually like, buttons and levers and stuff like that, as far as my limited knowledge goes.

... but this is the Realm and Hua Cheng is a fucking ancient fantasy China ghost. How complicated a system are you inflicting on us. ]

[Making a face, Rufus moves to walk past the worker and join Hua Cheng by the machinery. Xie Lian can handle the front on his own.]

[ There's maybe a dozen kids? And they're all carrying food. A drink comes flying and hits Xie Lian's in the face. Anyway, sure, there's an emergency ladder somewhere.

There are a bunch of buttons and levers, every single one of them unlabelled. There's also another teen worker, snoring over the machinery. Great place for a nap! Isn't a cot, like, right there. ]

[ i was wondering when that would happen

he makes a short, startled noise and is now covered in sticky, sticky mountain d*w. ]

... [ xie lian shakes his head and scrubs at his face with his sleeves to clean himself off. and then. you see this icon? this is the icon of "i'm about to do some headass shit".

xie lian takes a few steps back from the part where people board on and off, calling over his shoulder - ] There's a ladder! I'm going to try and jump on the back and take them off one by one. You two keep trying to stop it, okay?

[ he's gonna wait for it to come back around and then absolutely make a jump for the back of it unless someone stops him.

it's like the reverse of the god pleasing festival! (this is a horrible plan) ]

[ That is the most headass, Xie Lian shit he's ever heard. There's a moment where Hua Cheng just seems to check out for a second, thinking of all the terrible, no good, very bad things that could happen with this. ]

... gege should make sure he holds on tight, in case something causes it to speed up or abruptly stop.

[ That "something" being them. He doesn't know about Rufus, but, really, he doesn't care very much for fake people that are going to disappear once they deal with this. Xie Lian, however, he cares about greatly!

... still going to press some buttons though, one by one with a pause in between each one to see what they do. ]

[At least press the red buttons first. Those are often associated with stops. If the train speeds up, someone's bones are going to break in the attempt to pull passengers free.

Rufus turns his attention to the snoring worker. With his right arm, he pulls the worker's face back to create room for Hua Cheng.]

[retellers]

[ Xie Lian is now on the back of the train! But as Hua Cheng said, he might want to hold on tight.

... Because as Hua Cheng presses a button, the train stops! No, wait, just kidding. It stops... and then starts reversing? Zoom zoom, but in the opposite direction now. This is definitely how rollercoasters work. Hua Cheng presses another buttons and fireworks spontaneously burst into the sky, except it's daytime so they can't be seen. Sad.

The sleeping worker rolls over and slaps Rufus in the face. ]

[dianxias]

Eh? [ wasn't he just moving forward?

that's. fine i guess. xie lian wobbles, arms windmilling stupidly, and yelps - ] Ruoye, grab onto something strong and reliable!

[ ruoye does not grab onto hua cheng this time, thankfully, but instead grabs one of the. bar things? or headrests? i don't fucking know what this is rollercoaster looks like. xie lian also grabs onto the headrest or bar with his hands so he just kind of pitches forward but does not go careening off of the roller coaster. ]

Backwards, backwards, it's moving backwards! [ yet ]

[ Alas, Ruoye is nerfed and Hua Cheng is so far away. He leans away from Rufus and the sleeping worker when the arm goes flying, eyeballing them but leaving Rufus to contend with that. If he presses that first button again, is it going to make it stop going backwards...

Also will try one of the red buttons to see what it does, yeah. ]

[Rufus pauses. Scowling, he shoves the worker onto the floor with the same arm.]

[ Enjoy the sound of screaming children, Xie Lian. A popcorn bag goes flying and conveniently hits Xie Lian in such a way that it's now covering his head.

If Hua Cheng presses that first button, the train reverses again. Sorry, Xie Lian. At least it's going the right way now.

Rufus shoves the worker to the floor as Hua Cheng presses a red button. This causes holes to open up in the floor, as moles start popping up and down out of them. One of them grabs a bag of chips before it disappears back into the floor.

The high, non-napping worker looks over. ]

Oh, dang.

[ They take out a mallet and hold it out to Rufus, if he wants it. ]

[ (muffled popcorn covered yelling)

time to ride the rollercoaster for a minute i guess while he gets a hand free to try and rip this bag off of his head. please don't eject seats or something with button pressing hc ]

[ I promise absolutely nothing ]

Why is this something you're prepared for? [ He pauses in his button pressing when he sees the mallet.

But he doesn't pause for long. Time to pull a lever! ]

[soulus]

[The moles are a nuisance. Hua Cheng can handle the machinery while Rufus takes the mallet, ties it around his right forearm with the red string of his apparel, and hammers the nearest mole in a display of great accuracy.]

[retellers]

[ The mole makes a ding sound when Rufus bonks it. Anyway, please continue, Rufus. ]

I was something I can't say because it's copyrighted, but anyway, they teach you to prepare for everything. Tying knots, team management, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, the importance of physical fitness, first aid, whacking moles...

[ Hua Cheng pulls a random lever, and I support him. A song begins blaring from the rollercoaster train. The children stop screaming for a moment to listen. ]

[dianxias]

[ xie lian also stops yelling when the song starts blaring. it gives him enough time to pull the popcorn hat off of his head and ...a normal person would throw it off of their head when flying around on a roller coaster, but he shoves it in his sleeve instead.

...well it.. silenced the children? this gives him some time to make sure none of these children who aren't actually real children are injured, and figure out how close he is to being able to jump off again with a child in his arms. on the roller coaster goes. for a moment, they are stealing through the night's uncertainties.

roller coasters are where they are.... ]

[ ... well at least the screaming has stopped. And, anyways, none of these levers are labeled? None of the buttons are labeled? So he's going to just keep track of what ones he's pulled and pressed and move on to the next lever, while Rufus smashes, waiting to make sure the car isn't upside-down or something. Just in case. ]

Ah, yes. Whacking moles. Very important.

[ you are useless ]

[Wordlessly, Rufus continues to bonk the moles. Pull the lever, Hua Cheng.]

[retellers]

[ Ding ding ding. Bonk bonk bonk. The high worker throws a piece of candy at Rufus, as a reward for whacking all these moles.

The children are still held by their safety restraints, or whatever the fuck they're called. It's 10 PM, my vocabulary has left me. So Xie Lian might have some difficulty absconding with one, but hey, they all look uninjured. A funnel cake comes flying by and hits him.

Not a single thing is labelled, so Hua Cheng can continue his button-pressing/lever-pulling adventure without fear or guilt (?). The next lever causes music to start blaring at the station, awkwardly clashing with the train's music as it nyooms by and away. ]
