WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE

Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up.

As usual, the participants will find that their lodgings have changed, and should anyone check their PHS, Chiron, Ochako, Soo-won, and Dorothy's profiles have been removed. They may also find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks.

Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated.

Not everything is the same as the previous pattern, though. The barrier to the north is back up, and once more, what lies beyond is an empty field. In contrast, however, participants may notice that they can finally access a place they haven't been able to before...

Additionally, it looks like the Leaders aren't around. No matter where the participants look, they're nowhere to be found. Should anyone try calling for them in the Planetarium, there will be no response—not even a message telling the participant that they're busy.

Finally, everything around the participants begins to... glitch? Buildings may suddenly blink out of existence and then back in, random items like chairs or cups may suddenly distort even while they're being used, and looking at any particular thing for too long may give someone a headache. It's worse than it was that one week, though: participants will find that it's happening to themselves as well. Body parts might suddenly glitch out of existence then back in, and there will be a shot of pain when it occurs. It'll happen randomly, but it also seems to occur more often if they're touching something or another person.

[ now it's the girl's turn (Adora! wow, a name) to look wary and a little surprised ]

I. Yes. Okay. That does sound like one of the friends I'm here to rescue. So. I guess we'll go together, since my team for this kind of vanished on me anyway! I will also have to find them and that's fine. I'm completely okay with that and not at all stressed out.

[ since izumo is keeping track of robots, though; there's a transport skimmer nearby currently being used by some soldiers in terrible armor again. Adora perks up ]

Okay, plan: we knock them out, sneak into the building disguised as them, locate the prisoners, bring out the prisoners, and then go home before the Queen can exchange herself and we lose the war agains the Horde and all die! Easy peasy.

[ Adora is looking maybe a little unhinged, but it's fine and cool and chill? she looks at izumo ]

Also can. You. Walk by yourself.

[ please let someone else comment on how dicey aodra's plan sounds. or, well, the fact that there are a few more concerns that need to be addressed? also, the fact that she doesn't seem to be okay is a place of concerned. stressed and possibly unhinged aren't exactly good descriptors.

izumo would say something herself but uh. hmm. she'll look away from the transport (hmm) and then down at her leg and then glance to her arm. ]

I can't. [ and. hopefully this won't come off weird? or desperate. izumo asking something for herself is a bit "ha ha" but— ] Your sword heals, doesn't it?

[ there's still the off chance that it won't heal after all. no need to assume things just because things presented themselves one way, AND BECAUSE NONE OF YOU HAD MANNERS: ]

[Rufus, who still has no manners, watches the transport skimmer with a glance at the aforementioned building.

Putting aside Adora's sanity, Izumo's physical condition is perhaps their greatest hindrance. It wouldn't be impossible to manage, but a healing sword would be ideal at this time.]

at all of them. looks back at adora.

this would be so much easier if she had her magic. her 'these are not the droids you're looking for' magic. ]

[ but. plans wise. every time the scene has changed, it was because they did.. something. took action somehow. but they keep seeing this girl, adora...

is the goal to retread as many of these memories as possible, or- something else? are they doing this wrong? are they meant to follow and support this facsimile of whoever adora is?

listen she's the only one here who hasn't been on a cyoa this game, she doesn't know what you all were supposed to get up to. ]

As we are in no position to charge in head-on– [ Technically, he could use his magic... But could anyone else? ] –'tis best we sneak in, as suggested. It would certainly not be the first I've had to do similarly.

[ He looks up at Adora. ]

We are come for the same person, and so, it would be best that we cooperate. I am Alphinaud Leveilleur... and I suggest you keep a clear and steady mind. We shall be fine, regardless of what lies ahead of us.

[ Hopefully? But. Hm, yes, there is the matter of Izumo not being quite mobile. She mentions the sword; Alphinaud hopes that maybe something can be done. ]

Sword... healing. Riiiiight. Yes. Technically. The sword can heal.

[ that sound also doesn't inspire confidence, and they get a flash as to why-- as they're taken to some memories, though this time they can't seem to interact with anything?

It's an eight foot tall woman holding the sword in one hand and sending out a beam of rainbows with her eyes closed in the other. She pauses and opens her eyes. "Did I do it?"

The crop top wearing boy from previous memories deadpans: "You punched a tree."

Then it skips, again, and the same woman is in what looks like the fancy looking bedroom from the castle, and pointing the sword at-- what seems to be a younger version of Swan? as she goes, slowly, "Heeeaaaaal..."

And then that's interrupted by two different memories, almost at once-- Swan, with a dress in tatters, being held up by dangerous, red looking lights that seems to zap her as she spits to a dark haired woman wearing a mask that She-Ra will stop her, and at the same time, that same woman on the ground of a palace, runes under her, as the bigger version of what has to be Adora kneels next to her and holds her, a bright light shining around both of them.

And then, just to add to all of this--

they're now in a different place! Once again! But it's not one Adora seems to recognize as she looks around just as bewildered as the rest of them. The lake is large, and at the center is an old airship that crashed there with the corpse of a dragon wrapped around it - it has been there for a while. The rocky terrain that surrounds the lake has those blue crystals jutting out all over. None of the trees are thriving very well.

Adora stares blankly. ]

Sure, this. This might as well happen. Alright. Well. While we're here. [ she lifts the sword and-- ] For the honor of Greyskull!

[ there she is! in all her eight foot tall glory! moving over to Izumo ]

I don't know where we are. Or when? Obviously, things aren't normal right now! But you're right, I can heal. I don't know why I didn't remember it.

[ anyway!

if they will let her she will hold onto izumo as light engulfs both of them. this may take a minute.

also the robots from the fright zone are still here despite them being in a completely different place now, and they might have noticed the shining light transformation and are heading their way, by the way. they have lasers. ]

[ well.

this is a lot to suddenly take in. somewhere between the memories for swan, adora, and some other person, izumo is far from being surprised when they're dragged into somewhere else that no one seems to recognize(?) well. seemingly no one. ...or not yet. really, the most pressing matter to her is the fact that it there is a giant lady suddenly before izumo and she's now engulfed in a light.

everything else that's going to happen is just gonna...take a moment for her to adjust to. HOPE THAT ROBOT ISN'T GONNA RUIN THEIR DAY?? ]

[The memories are spiraling out of control.

While Adora takes care of Izumo, Rufus turns to their surroundings. Are these just a couple of robots? He watches their approach, but makes sure to have natural cover so that he isn't exposed to potential weaponry.]

[ haha what if we healed izumo only to get her shot full of holes again immediately.

but even yuuri who's used to the nonsense of labyrinths is starting to get a little whiplash from the memories. robots are. hm. complicating, considering the weaponry they have available to them.

if this is just a couple of patrollers, though, between the lot of them they might be able to do something, but for now she'll join rufus in eying their approach. at least she's in dark clothing. ]

[ Alphinaud will let her, which is a good thing because the moment their surroundings shift again—and yes, this is getting way disorienting—he can't help but stare around in surprise.

The familiarity that dawns on him is evident; he gazes wide-eyed out towards the lake. ]

... Silvertear Falls?

[ And then he looks around. ]

This—this is Mor Dhona. 'Tis a region of Eorzea, back in mine own home world.

[ Is this drawing from their own memories, now...? ]

[ Well, it takes a bit to heal, so Izumo and Adora are stuck there while she touches her face and glows, but good news everyone! Robots do not care about natural cover or their current location. That, or they, just, y'know, went for the glowy girls.

There's three of them. They approach, one shooting a beam directly at Adora and Izumo, and the other two walking around their hiding place to try and find the others and potentially laser them too. Maybe they should be doing something that is not hiding considering it is very hard to hide glowing girls. ]

[ you know. this is probably not the strangest thing that's happened to her, but it sure is the strangest thing to happen to her in recent memory.

also seeing that izumo and adora are glowing and she's being healed—here's a placeholder until either of them can do anything. she'd love to hear commentary from alphi about his world. a place in eorzea!!! but. alas.

heal check. ]

[Well, then he'll take the front. He pulls out the pistol he's been hiding on his person and fires a shot at the robot that's targeting Adora and Izumo. His aim is centered on the opening from where the laser originates, but it won't be perfect, given that he's using an old gun provided by the Realm; fortunately, Rupe is here to provide additional firepower.]

[ well, um. do the healing girls have to be rooted to the spot, or can she pull them out of the way.

either way she will attempt that if it's safe to, if she can't get to them then she is also going to shoot at the two that Rufus didn't go for, aiming for similar. might be a hard sell with arrows, but jointed and fiddly sections are usually a fairer bet than trying to shoot into a straight up plate of metal... ]

[ Yep, time to protect them.

Alphinaud does not have any projectiles, and again, he sure doesn't know how to use a sword... But as they fire off, one of the magitek(?) draws a little too close despite that, and he will make an attempt to club at it with the blade he has anyway. ]

[ Homura succeeds in pulling them out of the way, and Rufus and Rupe together shoot at the laser origin which throws off the aim, so no one is injured by this. The robots don't really seem bothered by it either, though, especially since they all have old time-y weapons. Luckily Adora finishes healing this round! Izumo will now be able to walk all on her own, because sometimes, there's a convenient magical girl in your memories.

But it looks like Alphinaud has the right idea, because even if he doesn't know how to use the sword and he has baby elf arms, the metal on these things does NOT do well with clubbing. Some kind of cartoon logic is at bay here. Of course, now that Adora is done healing, she will also waste no time in wasting one of the robots by grabbing one by the leg and simply yeeting it into the lake.

As one does. ]

Great! Healing done! Now how do we get OUT OF HERE. [ she turns to Alphinaud, ignoring the other robots still targeting the other three? ] You said you knew where we are, so where's the exit!

[ HELL YEAH WALKING RIGHTS.

which will be celebrated with a cheer along that just happens to line up with adora making waste of one of the robots. she'll take this as a sign to also offer alphi a bit of a smile before taking her sword back. izumo's not much more experienced wielding a sword, but it's going to be much easier for her to make use of it in comparison than her smol paramour. sometimes you just get rights in terms of height alone. ]

Right; no time for sight-seeing. There can be plenty of time for that another day.

[ ALSO IF THERE'S A ROBOT COMING HER WAY, SHE WANTS SOME VENGEANCE. ...but only if it's on their way OUT. ]

[They're close enough. Rufus spins on one foot and kicks a robot to off its course, then turns to follow Alphinaud. It's time to leave. Rupe will provide cover fire where necessary.]

[ she has limited ammo so Conserving that is the goal for now it looks like since they're looking to book it. shame she doesn't have magical girl reinforced strength right now, but that doesn't mean she's a slouch in self defense? rufus has the right idea with his kicks.

lead the way elf boy. ]

[ There's little time to be proud of his efforts; it will be the first and only time he will ever fuck up a robot without the aid of magic. Anyway! Sword relinquished, and hopefully with Rufus and Homura on robot demolishing duty, Alphinaud gestures westward.

Should they look, off in the distance they will see another area of cliffs, but this time, it looks like there are buildings built into it. Old timey ones for sure, but it's probably better than being out in the open by the lake. ]

That way is Revenant's Toll! Should we want for cover, there is plenty of it there!

[ Will this memory even extend that far? Who's to say. Time to scram, kids; Alphinaud takes it upon himself to quickly lead the way. ]

I have no idea where that is or where we're going!

[ But it's fine, the rest of the team minus Alphi can kick and/or slash robots while Adora picks? him up? to start going that way? IF SHE WAS GOING TO DO THIS THEN SHE COULD'VE DONE IT TO IZUMO

Still, they go through the distance into that other area of cliffs, winding up all the way-- back to the industrial complex they were at, except now they are inside the building?

Well.

That works out, sort of. ]

Well that happened. And will probably keep happening. [ unfortunately, their location might have changed back, but the robots are still there, now accompanied by people in various degrees of armor and stun batons. they will all, uh. well. try and attack, obviously, and so Adora will deposit Alphi back down on the ground and scream a little ] Oh come ON.

[ ah.

well. there goes the scenery around them again, which is sad because wherever alphi was talking about sounded a lot better than whatever the they are now. especially with the robots and the bonus of fools with the weapons.

izumo is here for a fight!!! ]

So much for sneaking in—if we're gonna plan on anything then we'd better just plan on doing it the loud and noisy way.

[ which is the less than stellar way to go about things but SOMETIMES YOU ALSO WANNA SMASH. two weeks of being able to do nothing was two weeks too many. where are they going? will the scenery change again on them? ]

[Rufus is this close to rushing the nearest person with a stun baton when Homura hands him a pipe bomb. That simplifies their plan. While the rest rush for cover, he pulls back to create distance between them and the security before chucking the well-aimed pipe bomb at the latter.

They're doing this the flashy way.]

[ run for cover/out of range, yup. rufus your throwing arm better be as good as promised. they should all know to Run, and if they don't then she will make them.

they don't have time for you, random security. she still is trying to conserve ammo, thank you. ]

[ HE HAS FEET, ADORA, WHY ARE YOU PICKING HIM UP!! (Just because he's small! Sheesh!)

But, uh, looks like a bomb is in play now soooo time to put some distance between himself and that. Bye. ]
