WEEK TWO: MINGLE

WEEK TWO: MINGLE (37 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. The barrier to the north is down, and beyond the bridge lies new areas to explore. Strangely, what was there last week seems to have been replaced overnight. That's not the only thing that's different, either. The participants will find that their lodgings have changed, and new buildings within the town have been unlocked. Finally, should anyone check their PHS, Cater, Sharon, and Kano's profiles have been removed. Three Leaders can be found around the area, open (?) to approach. If participants want to speak to them more privately, or to an absent Leader, it looks like they'll have to go through another channel. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. If you break the current ninth rule, participants will get shocked. It will be a mild shock at first, but the longer they touch each other, the stronger it will get. On that note, if your character did not share a memory last week, please make sure to check your notifs! Participants may also find that their memories of the past few weeks are getting fuzzier... as though they can't recall some of the details without focusing. Finally, this week, every time a participant gets within one foot of someone, they will experience the emotions the other person is currently feeling and vice-versa. This will last for ten seconds even after they've stepped out of their personal bubble, after which the sharing itself might share, but the knowledge will not. Have fun!

[it feels familiar, is the thing. the ocean, the port, the guarded fort, all of it feels incredibly familiar and it's why sora approaches the area with ease. he's already dressed for the occasion and finds himself making his way through the town at a comfortable stride, waving to anybody he finds familiar.]

[with the port being closest one might find themselves minding their own business as they enter the area. however, from somewhere to the side you may hear the sound of splashing.]

Ahoy! [and there's sora with one of the smaller ships, already priming it for a quick journey.] Ever gone sailing before? We should go!

[are you exploring the larger ship? you might find that as you wander, sora has found his way into the captain's quarters and seems to be studying the maps. you can also find him trying to open some of the chests and drawers to little to no avail. feel free to ask him what he's doing, or leave him to his own devices.

[he seems to have found himself seated inside the pub, scrolling through his phs with one hand while he has his feet kicked up on the table. apparently being here means he's forgotten some of his manners. as he's reading, however, he squints at the screen when he comes across the new rules.]

...what a weird update. What do you think happens if you don't listen?

[why is this child swimming around in the shallower parts of the ocean? as you approach the docks, you might find sora swimming around/wading in the water, plunging his hand in and pulling out a whole-ass crab.

pleased don't mind him squinting at it suspiciously before setting it on the dock, along with a few others that are just chillin'. they may scuttle toward you to get free though, so uh, look out.]

[surprise me! he can be found wandering around the fort or the town, or you can find him at the town's kitchen practicing his cooking, browsing the first aid station or hanging around the planetarium. he's pretty set on his outfit, though, and throughout the week will be finding stuff similar if not exactly the same.]

Spent a lot of time looking for a boat, when I was a kid.

[ ... she tilts her head, like this is a separate thought. ]

And I blew up a boat right before I came here. So... No. Never actually been sailing.

I feel like blowing up a boat has a story behind it? [he's kind of laughing. but he gestures to the boat he's on as he adjusts the sail.]

You should come around the port with me then. It'll be fun.

Kind of a long story. [ and she's not sure he'd really want to hear it. ] But explosives in the engine are the way to go.

Good to know if we ever need to do that. [he'll step aside then to give her room to join him, immediately forgetting the rule about not touching and offering a hand to help her aboard.]

It's been a while since I've been on a ship this small, but it should be fine.

I dunno, though. Maybe the same that happened to anyone who didn't share memories last week? Did anything happen for that?

Well yeah, what's not to like about it? [he's so in his element it's disgusting.]

But maybe. I haven't met anybody yet who broke that rule, but we should keep an eye out just in case.

You're kind of a nerd, aren't you? [ very funny! ] But it is kind of fun to dress up like this.

Weird how they'd tell us this after last week, though. I wonder what it's even about.

Am not! [wow???? also yeah??? but wow!!!] But it is cool. Sometimes when we travel to other worlds, we get new clothes and stuff to blend in. I kinda got used to it.

I was thinking about that, too. Maybe it's generating nova differently? [by making them all exercise really big amounts of willpower.]

[ Vezda is both drunk and hungover, somehow, and practically flops down by the dock when he is both too dizzy and has too much of a headache to keep walking.

He's pretty sure the crab pile is a hallucination.

He watches Sora with his eyes half shielded from the light and his voice sounds like gravel. ]

Kid...what the hell are you doing?

[the crab pile clacks its claws together almost ominously. but sora's still wading around before he picks up yet another crab, holding it with both hands as he turns to face vezda.]

Looking for white crabs. Just in case. [the crabs he's been finding are mostly darker-colored but nevertheless he's adding them to the pile. the crabs are vibin'.]

Why? Do those even exist?

[ Some of the crabs are scuttling towards him, not that he's noticed yet. ]

In some places. I don't know if they do here yet, but I'm not missing the chance to check just in case. [this explains nothing.

[he was not, but now taako's volunteering so sora just lets this happen.]

I mean, unless you don't think you can...[he's teasing, but also he's curious. also nice outfit taako, god.]

Thanks a lot. [but he grins in spite of that.] I don't know how well testing would go over, but these rules have to be here for a reason don't they? It could help us figure some stuff out.

I do think it's interesting that they were encouraging us getting closer, but now it's the exact opposite. I wonder if they're trying to discourage more killing, maybe?

That's possible. It'd be pretty hard to get too close to somebody to hurt them without getting punished for breaking a rule. Maybe the punishment is something really big.
