WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE

WEEK SEVEN: MINGLE (21 remain) Rise and shine, gremlins. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it's the start of a new week. To the participants, yesterday's events may seem distant now—albeit not as distant as their life before this. Whether or not they notice, they will have lost a memory upon waking up. As usual, the participants will find that their lodgings have changed, and should anyone check their PHS, Chiron, Ochako, Soo-won, and Dorothy's profiles have been removed. They may also find that they have difficulty recalling complete details of the past weeks. Furthermore, it looks as though the rules have updated. Not everything is the same as the previous pattern, though. The barrier to the north is back up, and once more, what lies beyond is an empty field. In contrast, however, participants may notice that they can finally access a place they haven't been able to before... Additionally, it looks like the Leaders aren't around. No matter where the participants look, they're nowhere to be found. Should anyone try calling for them in the Planetarium, there will be no response—not even a message telling the participant that they're busy. Finally, everything around the participants begins to... glitch? Buildings may suddenly blink out of existence and then back in, random items like chairs or cups may suddenly distort even while they're being used, and looking at any particular thing for too long may give someone a headache. It's worse than it was that one week, though: participants will find that it's happening to themselves as well. Body parts might suddenly glitch out of existence then back in, and there will be a shot of pain when it occurs. It'll happen randomly, but it also seems to occur more often if they're touching something or another person.

[ They stop walking once they get to the very front of the crowd, and they watch the group perform. Nothing is going on, guys.

The young man is now talking to someone, while throwing glances between the crowd and the girls performing. He starts gesturing at them--it seems like he's telling them to play faster?? ]

i guess this next song is a fast paced one?? keep up gals. alex gives the guy a bit of a flat look for a moment but? okay?

unless he's telling them to wrap it up. in which case they're done. ]

[Yeah Ange isn't entirely sure what kind of "faster" he wants here either.

Blackpink Lizard Planet Squad but every time they see someone they once knew it speeds up--

Well. She just follows suit of course to match Alex's tempo, glancing between the ladies still chilling in the front and the young man. Who is he even talking to? Does he look anxious?]

[ first this gets sprung on them, and now they need to get moving? talk about mixed signals. hilda gives him a look, but then watches the two newcomers a bit more carefully. they do stand out in a crowd...

they're playing a slightly faster song now, though the singing still carries well. ]

[ Yeah, who is he talking to?

Jeanne's attention is split 80% ladies, 20% on the young man being suspicious.

Jeanne tries to keep up with this new tempo. She's mostly successful, maybe. ]

[ He is telling them to go faster! Wow! The crowd is getting ramped up. It's difficult to tell how he's feeling though, as the same smile is on his face.

The blue haired girl climbs onto the stage though and walks towards them. ]

You may stop.

[ idk how to rp byleth ]

[ finally.

she stops. ]

... Are you in charge of this event?

[ seeing as she just. y'know. climbed on stage and --- wait a minute. she's squinting at byleth a little closely, with a little frown on her face. now she's not singing and has a second to look around, isn't that claude's--? ]

[... ... ...

Ange is just chilling here behind the keyboard but is ready to pretty much fling it into Byleth's face at the first notice of any sort of hostility.

[ well for one reason or another, she feels more like listening to this random lady than their impromptu manager. she gives byleth a look that's more curious than hostile.

she's only familiar in a distant sort of way, like someone you'd pass at a party and wonder if you'd gone to school together. (which they kind of had.) ]

Um... can we help you? Kind of in the middle of an act here...

[ Ange can be ready to slam a keyboard into Byleth's face because Jeanne is ready to upend the entire drum set at Atalanta if she goes into a murderous rage.

In fact, she's more surprised that Atalanta hasn't yet. But she's not going to complain about it?

She waits to hear Byleth's answer(s). ]

[ Byleth claps politely? They're putting on a good show. Her gaze lands a little too long on Hilda before she addresses the group as a whole. ]

You're doing great. I'm glad we were able to replace [ LOUD TRUCK HORN BLARES ] with you at such short notice.

[ Why is she talking in the middle of their song. Rude. ]

[chanteuser]

... [ “short notice” she says, not actually answering any of their questions. ]

Sorry, I missed that— who were we replacing?

[ oh excuse her she probably has to sing again now. she’ll. Uh. do that? She’ll do that.

Byleth get off the stage, damn. ]

What is it you want?

[ while alex distracts the crowd, hilda stares back, not even bothering to idly play the guitar anymore. ]

Thanks! But—yeah, if there isn't something you need...

[ why stand on the stage like this? can't she just meet them after the performance? hilda will slowly approach her, not quite sure what to do with this Mysterious Person, and not ready to be hostile either. ]

Hilda, please be careful.

[ They don't know if this is a fake or not?

THIS IS WORRYING.

Jeanne hits a cymbal, if they're still pretending at performing. ]

Oh, do they not know?

[ The young man just shrugs in response again, and the woman that Jeanne recognizes doesn't reply. She just stared at Jeanne.

The blue haired woman nods. ]

We'll just show you then.

[chanteuser]

[ hm.

well. let’s just say the song is coming to an end for the sake of francy’s dramatic cliffhangers, and alex is polite enough to give the crowd a wave before they might be ritually murdered on stage by these weird memory ladies.

how nice of her.

she’s also taking a couple of steps back because she is neither a secret super spy, a saint and didn’t graduate from war school. ]

[Alex is so valid.

Anyway Ange definitely is just chilling there, waiting for the other shoe to drop, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. But she's not going to be the first aggressor here.

RESOLVE THE CLIFFHANGER]

[ alex is incredibly valid. unfortunately, life dictates that she's a tank, so she'll stay put to make sure she can cover alex, if things go south.

but honestly, she has no idea what to expect here. she stops pretending to play this guitar but holds it in anyway. guitar, axe, what's the difference in a pinch?

though byleth doesn't seem dangerous to her... ]

What don't they know?

She's ready to fling the cymbals as discus, if she needs to, but yeah, Jeanne doesn't usually start fights. ]

Well, this may feel a little strange, but...

[ She snaps her fingers, and all four girls will suddenly feel very sleepy? They can fight it for a moment, but they'll all end up falling asleep on the stage.

And, after what may seem like only a moment of closing their eyes, they'll awaken again. They're still on the stage, but it's night now, and the crowd is gone. There's also no sign of the young man and the two women. A few people are walking around, going about their day as usual and they throw furious glances at the stage.

Series. Anyway! They're still in their outfits and if they look backstage, there's nothing there. Guess they're stuck like this. ]

[chanteuser]

—- oh.

[ it definitely wasn’t dark a second ago, hello? ]

... where did everyone go?

[ why do these people seem so mad at the stage? surely it can’t be them who are the ones getting the furious glances. is everything okay on the stage...? ]

[lecarre]

[um what.

Ange is immediately getting back up to her feet, looking around rather urgently.

What was the point of all of that? [UGH. What a weird waste of time.]

[axecessory]

[ what the heck is happening. she pulls herself up, frowning as she dusts herself off as she blinks off the last bit of sleep.

at least they don't have to perform anymore? too bad they didn't get applause. also, again, what is happening. ]

Now what?

[ anything off in the distance they should follow this time? ]

[ Being magically put to sleep is never a good sign. Jeanne springs to her feet as soon as she's able.

That there's none of their things backstage anymore is also a bad sign! ]

Those are all good questions.

[ Jeanne approaches one of those few people still around and hopes they don't do that freezing thing. She's polite despite how the icon may make her seem otherwise. ]
